Alias Returns In A Two-Hour Extravaganza
The beloved super-femme spy show Alias returns April 19 with a special 2-hour episode. Several regular-length episodes will air in following weeks. Fans are thrilled about the return, but disappointed in what will apparently be a shortened season.
However, it now seems that ABC has gone ahead and decided to air the last hours of one of the greatest shows on TV. That’s right - Sydney, Jack, Sloane, and the rest of the Alias gang return in April (according to our friends at SpoilerFix.com, April 19 to be exact) for a two-hour midseason special. According to the report, which started with Kristin at E! Online, the two-hour return will be followed by four more hour-long episodes and the series will come to an end with another two-hour explosion sometime in May.
What do you think? Does the show deserve its shoddy treatment simply because of lower ratings, or should the network give Alias the respect it’s earned?

Alias deserves a proper send off. It opened the doors for LOST and suffered from schedule shuffling and format tinkering. Still, 8 hours is a prettty decent amount of time to wrap things up. It means they won’t need to waste time with exposition and filler and can cut right to the bone. La Femme Nikita came back for only 6 (IIRC) and did a great job with the time. I think Alias can certainly finish on a high note and hopefully some of the cast will find their way to LOST. JJ is very good to the people he works with so I wouldn’t be surpsided at all to see them show up.

I believe it deserved a proper send off too. I’ve been watching old episodes and just loving it. Really like the addition of Rachel Nichols but the show just isn’t the same without Vaughn…

I’ve watched Alias since the first episode. I own every season. I’ve been looking forward to the last episodes for a long time now.

I think the way ABC has been and is continuing to treat Alias is completely disrespectful of not only such a great show but also of the the very loyal fans of five years. This news came as a slap in the face to me, I thought ABC was going to end alias like it started and lopping off five episodes on the FINAL season is just insulting, I really hope they don’t expect me to watch them much more (except for MAYBE Lost…or I’ll just get it on DVD). I guess we can be happy that they’re bringing it back at all depsite the shoddy job of doing it…and the only good thing about the rediculously late return date is that now I can be at home and watch it with my best (die hard alias fan) friend and we can console each other instead of being half way across the country and on the phone. I will miss Alias very much, and I’m dreading it’s end (but rooting for it’s upcoming return…does thatmake sense?).
