Cause of Daniel Smith’s Death Identified
Anna Nicole Smith’s son, Daniel Smith, died unexpectedly on September 10th—just three days after Anna Nicole gave birth to a baby girl. The cause of death was under investigation, and finally the culprit has been identified as methadone. Toxicology tests revealed that the combination of methadone and antidepressants led to Daniel’s death. The toxicology screening was the second attempt at identifying the cause, this time with a privately hired pathologist. The combination of drugs sped up Smith’s heart, leading to his death. The pathologist did not believe his death was a suicide, rather “a tragic, accidental drug-related death.” Methadone is often prescribed as a painkiller, but is also commonly used to help heroin addicts fight their addiction.
In other Anna Nicole news, her attorney, Howard K. Stern, is claiming to be her newborn’s father. This admission came during his interview with CNN’s Larry King Tuesday night.
