Charlie Sheen Earns the Big Bucks
Wow, this news came as a surprise to me—Charlie Sheen is about to become the highest paid comedy star on TV. Does that surprise you too? Maybe most surprising because I don’t like Two and a Half Men, but I’m probably in the minority there. I don’t find anything exceptionally funny about the show, nor do I find anything exceptional about Charlie Sheen. Perhaps I’m still holding a grudge about him replacing Michael J. Fox on Spin City. Anyhoo, Sheen is in negotiations with Warner Bros. TV right now to to earn about $350,000 per episode this season. This makes him a high roller among sitcom stars on the tube now, although it’s just a drop in the bucket to the $2 mil per episode that Ray Ramano received. Two and a Half Men is apparently no slouch—averaging more than 15 million viewers and “making it TV’s most watched straight-forward comedy.” I also didn’t realize that Sheen has been nominated for an Emmy, two Golden Globes, and a Screen Actors Guild award. He must be doing something right… but he’s not getting any laughs out of me.
