Interviews with CW’s 90210 Cast

Well, we already know they look the part - but will CW’s new 90210 cast actually do the spinoff justice?

In the video below, the actors talk about their new roles and give us a hint as to what we should expect.

Although they promise to “take this show to a whole new level,” this clip feels very similar to things we’ve seen before—from the production value straight down to the character description. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; I just don’t think they should set the bar too high for themselves.

Based on this teaser, the show already appears to be borrowing from the following:

  • The original 90210: Annie Mills is a “little fish in a big pond.” Fortunately, she starts off with better eyebrows than Brenda Walsh did.
  • Gossip Girl: Navid heads the journalism department which is “like a high school version of Access Hollywood.”
  • Nip/Tuck: Palm trees, production value and actress AnnaLynne McCord.
  • The O.C.: plays a a “cool” mom to an adopted teen (Dixon Mills) who was taken “out of a bad situation” and shown a better life.
  • Never Been Kissed: The literature teacher (Ryan Matthews) is a young guy who “identifies with the students.” (In other words - he’ll eventually get involved with a student.)

90210 will air on Tuesdays @ 8pm this fall.
