Jon Stewart As if you need more proof that Jon Stewart is a good guy… The Daily Show anchor will be hosting an upcoming autism benefit event, titled Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit for Autism Education. Too many stars indeed. Tune in to Comedy Central on October 15th at 8:00 p.m. to see Bob Odenkirk, Adam Sandler, Jack Black, David Cross, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ricky Gervais, Will Ferrell, Norm MacDonald, Steve Carell, Jimmy Fallon, Mike Myers, Amy Poehler, Ben Stiller, Stephen Colbert and Paul Rudd (among others). I’m practically salivating at the thought of the entertainment factor. And all for charity too, benefiting autism education and research programs—what could be better? The benefit will air live from New York City’s Beacon Theater on Comedy Central, with a live simulcast on comedycentral.com. Tune in for this special event.

Comments:

Was it just me or did almost every comedian bomb on this special, (except for Seinfeld, who was great.)?  It’s a great cause, obviously, but some of the routines by Jimmy Fallon, Mike Myers, and Will Ferrell were terrible.  An autism benefit deserves much better.  And Steve Carell’s bizarre sketch about someone communicating through groaning was inappropriate (not only wasn’t it funny, but I couldn’t understand what he was trying to convey), as was Martin Short appearing on stage in a wheelchair and apparently making fun of someone communicating through a device.  Totally unfunny and inappropriate.  I’m not easily offended—I listen to Howard Stern every day.  But this comedy was terrible and I’m sure they could have raised a lot more money by being more funny.
