For the first time in quite a while, it appears we may have had more original episodes on TV last night than repeats.  Although CBS’ comedy lineup saw strong numbers, it couldn’t outmatch the debut of Dancing with the Stars.  ABC ended up winning the evening in the viewers and demos.

8pm

• Dancing with the Stars (5.5/15 in 18-49) waltzed its way to 20.9 million.
• The Big Bang Theory (3.7/11) kicked off the evening with 9.1 million; How I Met Your Mother (9.7 million, 4.3/11) soared by 3 million from last week.
• Canterbury’s Law (5.7 million, 1.7/5) dropped by nearly 2 million.
• My Dad is Better Than Your Dad (4.7 million, 1.5/4) shrunk by 2.2 million.
• Gossip Girl* (1.3 million, 0.6/2) was actually up by 100,000.

9pm

• Two and a Half Men (14 million, 5.4/13 in 18-49) easily won the hour.
• The New Adventures of Old Christine (11.5 million, 4.3/11) got a nice 2 million viewer boost from its lead-in.
• Deal or No Deal (9.9 million, 2.9/7) took a 1.7 million hit.
• Girlicious (1.6 million, 0.7/2) was fairly even with last week.

10pm

• Medium (9.9 million, 3.2/9 in 18-49) channeled 700,000 more viewers.
• CSI: Miami* (9.7 million, 3.0/8) slid by a half million.
• The Bachelor (9.0 million, 3.3/9) beat its competitors in the demos.
