Adam Lambert vs. Kris Allen: American Idol’s Finale Face Off

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip

Adam Lambert, Kris Allen

Who will win the crown? The question may be the same each May, but somehow the contestants are always vastly different. This year’s final two male finishers aren’t a bit like the David-David combination that became a staple of American Idol 7. So how do Adam Lambert and Kris Allen compare to each other?

Is it even possible to compare two such vastly different personalities? Lambert and Allen, this year’s Top 2, couldn’t be more contrasting.

Kris Allen

: Small Town Guy
Allen, true to the spirit of American Idol, is from a small town in middle America - and he looks it. Kris’s clean-cut handsomeness won him very early attention in the contest, popularity he’s managed to maintain thus far at least.

Adam Lambert

: Big City Star
Lambert, by contrast, calls California home. He’s no stranger to the stage or to the industry, having been on Broadway in the past. He’s a performer to the core and over-costumed on every occasion. There’s nothing humble about him…in fact, the word flamboyant fairly leaps to mind.

Their resumes don’t even compare to each other. Lambert, 27, has appeared in more than one theater production and even played opposite Val Kilmer at the Kodak Theatre (which no doubt makes Lambert comfortable, as the Kodak is the current home of Idol).

Kris Allen, 23, was part of the all-state orchestra during his stint with the local high school group. He self-produced an album in 2007, songs of which have made the Internet rounds since Allen shot to reality fame on the show.

On a more personal note, again, the two men seem to stand on vastly different sides. Allen is married to a gorgeous blonde named Kimberly. According to various photographs and Internet gossip, any gorgeous blonde seem on Lambert’s arm might just be male (lots of reports suggest that Adam is homosexual, though this has neither been confirmed nor denied by Lambert himself). Lambert has never been married.

Both are good singers, both are good-looking males, both are aiming to win the most coveted reality prize in all of TV. Which will wind up victorious? To get that info, you’ll have to wait for Idol’s finale extravaganza, set to air Wednesday.

I’m a devout Christian and mother of two music-loving boys, but I ask:  What is wrong with America?  America’s vote for Kris Allen, or America’s vote against Adam Lambert, seems to be a contemptuous hate vote against various sectors of society that Adam Lambert appears to stand for.  Americans set aside the fact that American Idol is a singing talent competition open to all, not a popularity contest for class of persons; and neither a political race nor an arena for religious warfare.  In Season 8, it was evident that Kris is a talented musician and an outstanding vocalist, but Adam Lambert consistently proved to be the amazingly innovative artist and the best singer, gifted with a powerful voice.  Adam Lambert deserved to win.  Even Kris knows this within his Christian heart, so much so that when he was unexpectedly handed the undeserved title, he evidently became perplexed and then asserted in open public that “Adam deserves this…” – instinctively repudiating the unbelievable subsuming vote results and in righteous adherence to glaring truth. You could actually count so many seconds before the bewildered Kris finally acquiesced to receive the undeserved crown, but only after Adam graciously approached to place his arm around his room mate’s shoulder in encouragement.  ADAM LAMBERT IS THE TRUE WINNER.  I should also ask:  What is wrong with this American Idol TV show, anyway?
