American Idol: Voting Scandal?

According to the New York Times, AT&T became a big part of several Kris Allen parties during last week’s American Idol 8 finale. Their reports suggest marked voter influencing and support for that camp.
Allegedly, AT&T representatives not only provided free text-messaging services to Allen party attendees, but also taught texters how to power-text. This method of texting allows users to send many messages at once, with a single button. This could make it easier to send out many more votes in favor of one Idol contestant.
In case you somehow missed it, AT&T is a huge American Idol sponsor.

At the very least, A T & T should be dropped as a sponser, or if only certain individuals were involved, they should be sacked. This whole thing could be avoided and we would have a true majority vote if Idol did like other shows and only allowed a certain number of votes per phone number. Then you would know who the majority of “people” voted for, not the majority of “votes”, which are usually very young people who can spend 3 hours power texting. I am a huge Adam fan, but in this case feel sorrier for Chris now who will have to have this hanging over his head.

I knew there was something fishy going on. Chris sings fairly well, but not to win over Adam. It’s a relief to know the results were not because of American Stupidity like I was thinking. As far as I’m concerned (and everyone else I know), Adam won!

The voting should be like it is for anything, 1 vote per person…...
Everyone I know, the interviewed celebrities on TV, everyone was voting for Adam.
He is such a talent. It is not fair to not do something about this. Chris is a nice guy,
but I know alot of nice guys…..................He should do the right thing, and step down.
People will love him even more if he does the honorable thing.
AT&T should take responsibility and give out the total votes. Maybe this was going on
during the other voting as well, I did not think Chris would be in the top 2 either.
Allison and Danny were much better singers. Still love Chris, but facts are facts.

I think they should give the prize money to ADAM as well as the title of AMERICAN IDOL.
Those employees should be forced to listen to Chris Allen songs all day. UGH!! ADAM has brought new life into a dying show. Adam the world awaits you now . I love you .
