Britney Spears on How I Met Your Mother
Days after news of an Alicia Silverstone arc, we’re learning of much talkier plans for How I Met Your Mother. The CBS comedy will soon be embracing another guest star: Britney Spears.
Unlike the storyline involving Silverstone, the part planned for Britney is not considered to be signficant. The singer will also be playing someone other than herself. (I’m guessing her character will still have some sort of twang and head gestures.)
Sadly, this stunt casting follows an appearance by Paris Hilton on My Name is Earl. Apparently viewers will turn on their TVs if producers bring their internet stars to the TV.
No date has yet been announced for the Spears cameo. Meanwhile, Hilton will be running around Jason Lee‘s dreams come April 3rd.

It is much more ‘fun’ for many, I realize, to read scandalous news regarding Britney Spears.
If you fall into this category, you are welcome to skip over this, my positive commentary.
Keeping in mind that this is a ‘cameo’ role of minimal exposure, it is Fair to say that Miss Spears effectively portrays her comedic role as the ditzy receptionist on ‘How I Met Your Mother’ / 03-24-08.
Britney appears (shocking, perhaps) very much ‘with it’ and looking wonderful in her small-screen ‘comeback’.
Her natural rapport with cast members in each of her scenes is evident.
Britney is obviously having fun and Is fun to watch.
There is not one awkward or uncomfortable moment here.
This role requires ‘sparkle’, comedic timing, enthusiasm and a fresh-faced appearance.
In each regard, Spears is more than successful.
For those of us who wish Not to see this young woman fall on her face, this episode of ‘Mother’ is a refreshing revelation.
For the rest, a Total disappointment.
Britney Jean Spears, aside from this playful TV moment, deserves much credit for her courage in standing-up against all-odds and with a doubtful world watching.
