Casting Corner: Bones, Royal Pains and More

Heidi KlumRena Sofer

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Desperate Housewives: Two of the world’s most famous supermodels will be making the ABC show their runway. Both Heidi Klum and Paulina Porizkova have just been tapped to appear as themselves in an episode next month. The scene - which will be set in New York - will also involve Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria Parker) and Angie Bolen (Drea de Matteo).

Ugly Betty: We know the show is coming to an end, but what will the finale look like? Well - the closer will have one thing missing: Betty’s braces. Come March 24, it’ll be Kathy Najimy‘s job to take them off. The actress will also serve as Suarez’s guardian angel in a Wonderful Life-esque storyline.

Criminal Minds: She may not have been involved in the 90210 reboot, but that doesn’t mean Gabrielle Carteris isn’t busy. In a few weeks, the 49-year-old (49?!) will cameo on the CBS drama. Carteris’ character will be questioned by the BAU after she comes face-to-face with a possible serial killer.

Glee: Sue Sylvester will have a new target in her sights during May sweeps. That’s when former SNL-er Molly Shannon will join the cast as Jane Lynch’s latest annoyance. Shannon’s pill-popping, alcoholic, astronomy teacher role will be recurring on the show.

Bones: Even though I was sure Rena Sofer had already guested on every program out there, she managed to land herself a new gig. This time around, the dark-haired beauty will be creating potential sparks with Booth (David Boreanaz). The two will meet when Sofer, a marine biologist for NOAA, assists the team with a case.

Royal Pains: The Fonz is back and he’s heading to the USA Network. When the series makes its return, Henry Winkler will play father to Hank (Mark Feuerstein) and Evan (Paulo Costanzo). Season 2 is scheduled for a summer start.

True Blood: One more new face has been recruited for the HBO drama. Actress Brit Morgan (The Middleman) has been cast as Debbie Pelt, Alcide’s ex-girlfriend. And since Alcide will take a liking to Sookie, that means Debbie won’t.
