Casting Corner: In Treatment, Royal Pains and More

Debra Winger

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

In Treatment: Terms of Endearment actress Debra Winger will be working out her issues on the coming season of the HBO show. The Oscar nominee will reportedly play a “formerly big star” who is suffering from anxiety over her career. A return date for Treatment has not yet been announced.

Californication: Rob Lowe will dream of Californication when he appears on the Showtime comedy’s fourth season. Lowe will be featured as an actor vying to play Hank Moody (David Duchovny) in a film adaptation of his book. The role may be recurring.

Brothers & Sisters: There’s also some good news and bad news for two of Rob Lowe’s former costars. Hunk Gilles Marini (Luc Laurent) - Sarah Walker’s French beau - has just been promoted to series regular on the ABC drama. Meanwhile, there are no plans to bring actor Luke Grimes (love child Ryan Lafferty) back to the family’s dinner table.

Royal Pains: Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden has moved on to her next cable program. The Damages star has landed a role on the USA Network series as a surgeon and Hamptons Heritage Hospital board member named Dr. Elizabeth Blair. She’ll be in several episodes including the June 3 premiere.

The Young and the Restless: David Hasselhoff won’t be the only star visiting Y&R this June. No Way Out‘s Sean Young - who has been cast as a barmaid named Meggie - will get tied up with Victor Newman in some sort of soap opera mystery. Young will also enter the scene in June.
