When this year began, followers of were still uncertain when their FX series would return. Thankfully, they at least now know when it will end.

Although Season 6 debuted last April, the show’s seventh - and final - season was pushed back to Fall 2008. Surprisingly, the scheduling decision had nothing to do with the . The network simply didn’t want the program to compete with with the Summer Olympics. (As if they couldn’t have aired repeats for a whole two weeks.)

The Emmy-nominated series, which still has 13 more episodes in the vault, has now been given a November 25th end date. While that may seem like a short stint, the 3-month run is actually in line with the previous seasons. And from what I hear, these final hours will be something to remember.

In an interview with TV Guide, CCH Pounder (Det. Claudette Wyms) teased that the bald one will be given a grand exit. “I’m a chicken when I watch The Shield. But I think it’s the greatest finale ever. This finale is what Vic Mackey deserves.” (Well, he deserves a lot of things. Could you be more specific?)

Meanwhile, (Vic Mackey) added that his actions might throw viewers for a loop. “You will not see this [storyline] coming, but looking back, it will make sense. The Vic Mackey at the beginning of this season is a guy who has come to understand that there are consequences for him and for everyone around him. But you can’t change the spots on a leopard.”

Oooh - I can hardly wait!

Season 7 of The Shield kicks off for the last time on Tuesday, September 2nd.
