Britney TVCould recovering pop wreck become a fixture on network television?

The New York Post reports that even though Spears is back in the studio working on a new album, her father/conservator Jamie is hoping she’ll phase out her music career and focus on television instead. (I think it is just smart business to accept that eventually people won’t want to see a 40-ish woman in a bustier gyrating to breathy dance songs. Wait a minute, Madonna still does it.  Never mind.)

A Spears insider told the Post’s Page Six that Jamie wants his daughter to have a more normal 9-5 job to keep her working and out of trouble. The Spears camp was well-pleased with her cameo on CBS’ . That appearance got the show its highest ratings ever. Set insiders say Spears was professional and friendly. They also say her comedic timing and ability to improv were surprisingly good. There is even talk Britney Spears may be asked back for another spot on How I Met Your Mother.

Meanwhile, father Jamie Spears is reportedly exploring several offers for Britney to have her own show, possible a sitcom. Page Six says Britney has also been offered a guest-starring role on NBC’S .

Britney Spears first appeared on national television in 1992 as a contestant on Star Search. She was also a regular on Disney’s The New Mickey Mouse Club from 1993 to 1994. She and her ex-husband were also the stars of their self-produced reality show Britney & Kevin: Chaotic which aired in 2005. That show signaled the end of her image as a good girl and welcomed in the rockier era of Britney Spears: the public train wreck.

Back in January, a court ordered that Jamie Spears become his daughter’s legal conservator. His job is basically to keep her out of trouble and keep her going to court dates and custody hearings. He and other family members have also been working to root out bad influences in the singer’s life in the hopes that she can eventually regain custody of her two small children.

Britney is a great singer and dancer, it would not be the same if Britney quit singing, and dancing. Do not get me wrong, her acting is great too, I loved her in Crossroads, and will and grace, and How I met your mother, but singing is what made Britney a super star. She loves it so much.I love every song that Britney has ever done. She has worked hard on all her music, it would be a shame if she gave up her singing and dancing, she will always be the true queen of pop.
