New SNL Cast Members Poke Fun at Pop Culture

New cast members Vanessa Bayer and Paul Brittain managed to get themselves noticed during last weekend’s broadcast.

In a skit featuring host-for-the-week Bryan Cranston, Bayer offered up “The Miley Cyrus Show,” which starred the teenager as an over-enthusiastic talk show host. Punctuating most of her thoughts with a wide-eyed “pretty cool,” Bayer gave us a Miley who’s incredibly energetic and hopelessly clueless about what happens outside her carefully-crafted Hollywood bubble.

While rolling her eyes at dad Billy Ray (played by Cranston), Bayer-as-Cyrus interview Brittain’s Johnny Depp, who was every bit as vacant and offbeat as we would want. When he dreamily explained that he and Tim Burton are currently “working on a haunting adaptation of Goodnight Moon,” it was impossible not to burst into hysterical laughter.
