Oprah News: Dr. Oz, 30 Rock

Being one of Oprah‘s friends definitely has its benefits.
Since the talk show queen was instrumental in getting both Dr. Phil and Rachel Ray their own shows, you knew it was just a matter of time before she moved on to her next pet project. This time, she’ll be responsible for making us sick of Dr. Mehmet Oz.
Up until now, I’ve really liked the doctor. The 47-year-old frequent contributor is very much like that McGraw guy; he tells it like it is. And guests aren’t afraid to ask him their most embarrassing questions because he’s pleasantly non-judgmental. (Remember when he hosted that males-only show solo?) But as likable as the medical expert is, could we tolerate seeing him on a regular basis?
Word has it the latest talk show competitor will hit the airwaves come Fall 2009. Start prepping your medical questions now.
Read More Recently, Tina Fey joked to reporters that she would love to have the powerful woman on her comedy. Well, word got back to host and she addressed the wish on a recent taping of her show. (Fey and Amy Poehler were guests talking about their film Baby Mama.) Winfrey stunned Tina by expressing interest in an appearance and told her their people should talk. While I doubt a Winfrey cameo would garner as much voyeuristic attention as a Britney Spears (or Paris Hilton) one, I’m sure it would be a much better acted experience overall.

Although Ms. Winfrey seems quite busy creating business opportunities for her friends, she apparently seems to have enough time to look out for herself. Assuming she’s one to follow up on her word, it appears Oprah may be featured on a future episode of 30 Rock.

Kristin has the whole story about Oprah and Tina: According to members of the live audience, during a commercial break, Oprah said she had heard Tina wanted to be her best friend and asked whether Tina meant in real life or on the show. When Tina said “both!” Oprah said, “Have your people call my people.” http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/
