Project Runway Carries On Without a Home

Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum

As they say, the (fashion) show must go on.

Even though Lifetime and Bravo are still fighting over Project Runway’s future, production on the reality program has been going on as planned. For attendees of New York’s Fashion Week, that meant viewing collections from a bunch of unknown designers. Literally unknown.

At today’s Bryant Park taping, Season 6’s final three contestants got the opportunity to see their clothes on the runway. Unfortunately, unlike in seasons past, the designers weren’t allowed a chance to speak. Nor did anyone know whose creations they were. In an attempt to keep the outcome a surprise, the collections were presented to the audience blindly.

Earlier this week, host Heidi Klum spoke to Access Hollywood about the strange tone the event would have. “You know, normally you have people there that are like clapping because they have their fans coming out you know, the fans for these designers they’re like, ‘Yeah!’ And they’re like rooting for this one or that one and this time no one knows anyone, so the feeling is going to be, unfortunately, a little bit different — so it’s a little sad.”

Although fashion mentor Tim Gunn strongly believes the installment will eventually make it on some network, he - like everyone else - isn’t able to predict when. “No clue. I’m confident it will air. But we don’t know when. Or where.”
