When it comes to shows about young adults, it seems audiences prefer characters who are awkward and musical—not pretty and anorexic. Yesterday’s debut of The Beautiful Life bombed despite an ANTM lead-in and raised approximately 5 million less than its FOX competitor (Glee). As Stanford Blatch would say, TBL was Wednesday night’s fashion roadkill.

  • So You Think You Can Dance (5.7 million, 2.4/7) slipped by 800,000.
  • The New Adventures of Old Christine* (1.1/4) had 4.5 million laughing; Gary Unmarried* (1.2/4) turned in 4.5 million.
  • America’s Next Top Model (2.8 million, 1.4/4) took a 400,000 hit.
