Shining ‘Moment’ for FOX

Moment of TruthWednesday night saw the arrival of the show I’ve been anticipating most: on . Wisely, the network premiered this new game show right after number one . Scoring 23.2 million viewers, it’s safe to say the show was a success. (It’s the biggest ratings for any premiere this season.)  Meanwhile, Idol won 26.8 million viewers, far outpacing ’s and Mandel’s million-dollar mission. For weeks, Moment has been getting quality promos and a lot of ad time, so it’s no surprise the followed. But…how good is the show, really?

I’ve been looking forward to it for months, and I was not disappointed. FOX’s Moment of Truth was every bit as intense as I suspected it would be.  Wednesday night’s two contestants were even forced to admit indignities early on in the competition.  The first, an ex-professional football player, admitted to looking at fellow teammates in the shower and doing something that would cause his wife (a gorgeous, rail-thin blonde) to no longer trust him. But when asked whether he’s ever touched female clients inappropriately in his line as a personal trainer, he said no. (According to polygraph results recorded prior to broadcast, this was a lie.) Thus, the first contestant on Moment won nothing and left the stage. The second contestant is still in the chair, and his odyssey to win half a million dollars simply for telling the truth will continue next week. An admitted gambler, he will face a sensational question:  “Have you ever gambled away one of your children’s college funds?”

I simply can’t wait. Intimate, invasive and completely interesting, Moment of Truth is only going to get better and better.
