SVU Loses Another ADA, Possibly Lead Stars

SVU's Michaela McManus may be accustomed to changes, but departures don’t usually happen so quickly.

After less than one season on the long-running NBC series, actress Michaela McManus (Kim Greylek) is already out. The former One Tree Hill star joined the program when the show’s last ADA, Casey Novak (actress Diane Neal), left the prosecutor’s office due to controversy.

Greylek, who was sent away to Washington D.C. last month, saw her job temporarily filled by Alexandra Cabot (actress Stephanie March), the former assistant district attorney. Now it appears Kim will be gone for good. Michaela sent the following message to her Twitter followers on March 28: “Will no longer be on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, but would like to thank my fans for supporting me.”

Although it’s unclear whether March will be taking back her role permanently, the vet is scheduled to appear in another four episodes this season.

Meanwhile, there’s another development that could mean possibly mean two more casting changes for SVU. NBC may already be planning for an 11th chapter, but the drama’s two stars haven’t yet signed on the dotted line.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Chris Meloni and Emmy winner Mariska Hargitay are both seeking increases to their current $350,000-per-episode contracts.

While it would seem like a risk for anyone to ask for raises right now, SVU is the network’s top-rated scripted program at this time. A cut of the back-end profits would also be in line with deals Chris Noth and Vincent D’Onofrio have both received. Sources, of course, claim that NBC is refusing to back down and even threatening to replace Chris and Mariska.

Dick Wolf, the show’s creator and executive producer, released this statement to the magazine: “It is my fondest hope that both Chris and Mariska will be back next season.”

Comments:

I didn’t like when Diane left but figured I would give SVU a chance but hell they never gave Michaela a freaking chance. I am a big fan of her’s since I saw her on One Tree Hill. So if she isn’t on whats the point of me watching the show.

I really hope that Mariska and Chris sign on for a couple more seasons! I don’t know what I’ll do if they don’t. I guess a lot of crying for me. I do hope that since Casey’s year is almost up, Diane Neal will be returning to the show. Cross your fingers!!! Mariska+Chris+Diane or Stephanie=awesome L&O SVU!!!! Please don’t kill off Alex or any of the other amazing stars!

Diane Neal is an imbecile and Casey Novac was a petulant child. Stephanie March, on the other hand, is an actress of grace and precision and her Alex Cabot is a marvelous creation.
