24 May Unfold on the Big Screen
Jack Bauer’s problems could soon be larger than life. According to Variety, screenwriter Billy Ray (State of Play) has been tapped by FOX to write a big screen adaptation of 24.
Last month, star Kiefer Sutherland - who has played the lead character for eight seasons - admitted he was interested in doing a film because the “game has changed.”

“I think the resistance to it is because in my father’s generation if you did films you didn’t even think about television,” Sutherland explained. “That was a death knell. And if you did television, you wouldn’t be allowed to do films. That was when we had three networks. We have six hundred now, and if I want to see Paul Newman in a movie, I don’t have to go out. And so the game has changed. And I think we’re going to have to adjust with it.”
Kiefer also suggested that the movie could be a “two-hour representation of a day.”
It’s believed the feature would bring Jack to Europe, though planning is still in the preliminary stages.
