Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez is reportedly leaving American Idol. The "On The Floor" singer is to step down from the judging panel of the talent show after two years because she is too busy with other commitments, it has been claimed.

"There is just too much going on for her right now," a source told US Weekly.

Jennifer- who will embark on a 20-date tour of North and Latin America this summer and is currently recording a new album - is "forever grateful" for her time on the show and is upset about leaving. "She regrets she can't stay on the show. It's been an incredible experience and she is forever grateful that she did it," the source added.

Despite the claims, American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has insisted Jennifer's departure is not definite and he would love for her to stay on the show. "We want her back. I want her back. I know how much she loves doing the show and how much she cares for the kids. [But] It's a business. She has to weigh everything. I know she's gotten lots of offers to do movies and other things," he said.

Carrie UnderwoodCarrie Underwood would never join the X Factor panel because she is too loyal to American Idol.

The "Good Girl" singer shot to fame on the pop star search show and although she has been linked to one of the vacant roles on the X Factor judging panel, she insists she is "an Idol girl all the way."

"I think it's great that Simon Cowell has The X Factor show, and I love seeing all of these shows giving nobodies a big opportunity. But I'm an Idol girl all the way. That's the one that I love and watch. I can't see myself being a part of any another show like that," she told Extra.

Carrie also revealed she and NHL player husband Mike Fisher - whom she married in 2010 - are too busy for kids right now but are enjoying spending time together: "I have my best friend around me all the time. Everybody's like, 'The first year is the hardest,' and I'm like, 'That's it? That was the hardest? Come on, you can do better than that!' It's great; he's wonderful. I'm good right now. As long as he's playing [hockey] and I'm doing this, it doesn't make sense. So no babies."

American Idol clothesAmerican Idol is launching its Authentic Icon clothing line.

The talent search show recently recruited Tommy Hilfiger as an image advisor, and is now planning to launch an exclusive clothing collection at Kohl's stores across the country. The line will debut in April and be in stores from June and will feature selections for both men and women.

"It was a natural extension to partner on a line of American Idol-inspired apparel that captures the essence of our rich music, style and performance heritage," said David Luner of FreemantleMedia Enterprises, the production company behind the show.

Contestants on the show will model the styles when they appear in the weekly live finals. "The American Idol collection will build upon the powerful influence of music and entertainment on today's fashion-conscious consumers," said Rick Darling, president of LF USA - which is helping create the clothes.

Stella McCartneySimon Cowell reportedly wants Stella McCartney to dress The X Factor contestants.

The 52-year-old music mogul apparently hopes to follow in the footsteps of rival American Idol - which recently joined forces with Tommy Hilfiger - and get an established designer on the show to improve the style of competitors.

"Simon is a big fan of Stella's. He has been for ages. He's in negotiations with her at the moment to get her to design a few special pieces for some of the finalists. It will be great for the show if it comes off," a source said.

Meanwhile Simon is also said to be keen to get Stacy Keibler - the former wrestler and current girlfriend of George Clooney - to replace Steve Jones as host on the US version of the show.

"Stacy Keibler is in talks to join the show, but her lack of experience in the music business may make her more appropriate as a host. She looks fantastic and has bags of charisma," a source said.

Tommy HilfigerTommy Hilfiger has been hired as an image advisor for American Idol. In the newly-created position, the 60-year-old fashion designer will be charged with developing the style of each contestant.

"I will look at where they were, where they are today and the possibility of where they could go, because I don't think their image will evolve without some trial and error. 'We need to take into consideration their ages, color preferences, sizes, what types of music they will be performing, what they wear on their feet and how they wear their hair. There is going to be a real package put together on each person."

Talking about his decision to take on the role, he told WWD, "I thought it would be exciting and challenging and different, a place where I could use all of my experience in fashion and music. If you look at what makes a star, it's not only musical talent, it's the complete package. And that includes image. If you look at great superstars from Michael Jackson to Madonna and Lady Gaga and Katy Perry today, they each have a unique style and that adds to their persona. It's the icing on the cake."

American Idol’s 10th finale opened with all due pomp and circumstance. Ryan Seacrest wore a tuxedo, but black tie was optional for everyone else. More than 122 million votes, a record number, were counted to determine whether Lauren Alaina or Scotty McCreery would become the next American Idol.

The year’s Top 13 performed “Born This Way” to open the night’s festivities, each dressed in white like angels. If only they sounded like angels. To call the number bad would be too nice. But the show would improve vastly from here...

American Idol 10 - Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery

American Idol kicked off the first installment of its finale shows with clips of past Idols and its two current contestants. The stage was set for drama, the Nokia Theater was packed with people and we were all ready to count the cowboy hats as the hour-long performance episode kicked off.

Ryan Seacrest called the battle “the boy next door versus the southern belle.” They are Idol’s youngest two contestants to face off in the final round. Both gained early attention from judges and fans, both are absolutely country singers, both want to win badly. Despite reports from TMZ that the finale might have been otherwise, Lauren Alaina was indeed ready to perform on Tuesday. According to the doctor that Idol trotted on stage, Lauren belted too hard in her rehearsal and blew out a vocal cord.

Think it’ll affect the voting? Doesn’t everything?

American Idol 10 panel

Arguably, the Top 3 vote is the most intense of American Idol. The trio of singers is on the cusp of their goal, inches away from being a contender in the show’s big finale. The biggest vote of the season was recorded after the Wednesday performance round: 95 million.

But some of the voters would be disappointed, because one of the Top 3 would be sent home before Thursday came to a close. The only question was… which?

American Idol 10 - Top 3

Top 3 week of American Idol is always pretty big (for them). Each contestant goes home for a big celebration, with full rock star treatment.

And even James Durbin, who was eliminated last week, went back home to a hero’s welcome. But only Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are left to compete for votes. And of the three, only two will be a part of the show’s big finale next week.

The show snagged a superstar for Top 3 week: Beyonce. There’s no need to expound on her credentials; they’re too evident. She definitely has the knowledge to help the Top 3.
