MONDAY (9/28)
Season premieres: County Jail, Lie to Me, Trauma

- CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm): “The lab is attacked and new CSI Jesse Cardoza is taken hostage along with four other people.” Unfortunately, the newbie wasn’t eligible for his hostage compensation benefits yet.

Friday Ratings: NBC Makes a Week End Mark
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Games, Kids, Music, Sci-Fi/Horror, Talk Shows, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Medium, Ratings
Up until now, CBS has traditionally dominated Friday nights with its Ghost Whisperer/Numb3rs combo. But could Jay Leno potentially change that? Although we’re still a week away from finding out, the program got off to a nice start this weekend. Primetime’s new 10:00 show helped give NBC a win in both the viewers and the demos.
8pm
- Dateline NBC (2.0/7 in 18-49) averaged 7.4 million over two hours.
- Approximately 5 million watched the finale of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (1.0/4).
- Ghost Whisperer* (1.1/4) pulled in 4.6 million.
- The 2009 Alma Awards (0.6/2) attracted 2.2 million.
- Smallville* (0.6/2) dialed up 1.6 million.

Wednesday Ratings: Ugly Start for Beautiful Life
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Games, Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America's Next Top Model, So You Think You Can Dance, Ratings
When it comes to shows about young adults, it seems audiences prefer characters who are awkward and musical—not pretty and anorexic. Yesterday’s debut of The Beautiful Life bombed despite an ANTM lead-in and raised approximately 5 million less than its FOX competitor (Glee). As Stanford Blatch would say, TBL was Wednesday night’s fashion roadkill.
8pm
- The finale America’s Got Talent (3.5/10 in 18-49) averaged 15.5 million over two hours.
- Wipeout (2.1/7) took 6.2 million down.
- So You Think You Can Dance (5.7 million, 2.4/7) slipped by 800,000.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine* (1.1/4) had 4.5 million laughing; Gary Unmarried* (1.2/4) turned in 4.5 million.
- America’s Next Top Model (2.8 million, 1.4/4) took a 400,000 hit.

GSN Gathering Celebs for Two Renewals
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Games, Reality, Cable, Renewals

The Game Show Network is sticking with Catch 21 and the newly revamped Newlywed Game. Both game shows have been renewed for another run on the cable network, and both will see big surprises in upcoming episodes.
The Newlywed Game will turn standard marriages on their ear by featuring the first-ever same-sex couple on the series: George Takei (Star Trek) and his mate Brad Altman, to be exact. Other celebs scheduled to appear with their real-life partners include Davy Jones of The Monkees and his wife Jessica Pacheco, Edyta Sliwinska and Alec Mazo from Dancing with the Stars, and several celebs from The Biggest Loser, Survivor, Real Housewives and others.

Tuesday Ratings: Melrose, 90210 Disappoint
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Games, Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Ratings
The fall season hasn’t officially kicked into high gear, yet 90210 and Melrose Place are already coming up short. The sophomore drama debuted to nearly 2 million less than it did last year. Meanwhile, the freshman entry attracted a smaller number than Privileged did last September. (Note: CW has since canceled Privileged.)
8pm
- An NCIS* repeat (10.7 million, 2.1/6 in 18-49) was the hour’s largest draw.
- Hell’s Kitchen (7.6 million, 3.5/11) had the night’s best demos.
- America’s Got Talent* (1.5/5) got NBC warmed up with 6.8 million.
- Shark Tank* (1.1/3) attacked 3.4 million.
- 90210‘s debut (1.3/4) pulled in 2.6 million.
