Scrubs

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe there’s a difference between “midseason” and “in the middle of the holiday season.”

Although ABC surprised many followers when they renewed for a ninth season, the network did something not so surprising to the show: They buried it.

Instead of waiting until after the holiday craziness died down, ABC chose to bring back the comedy during the height of the shopping season. Now the program - which will shift focus from the hospital to the classroom - will have a one-hour debut on December 1.

Dave Franco cast in Scrubs

Dave Franco, best known for being James Franco‘s younger brother, is the latest addition to join the Scrubs cast.

Franco, whose credits include Superbad and ABC Family’s Greek, is set to play Cole, a medical student whose family donated a wing to the school. Not surprisingly, he is described as being an (additional) “irritant” to Dr. Cox.

Jorja FoxDaphne Zuniga

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Jorja Fox is having a hard time staying away from the hit series. Despite “leaving” the show over a year ago, she made several appearances last season. Now Fox is scheduled to appear in five episodes of the upcoming season, including the September 24 premiere. Although we are expected to learn “where life has taken Sara Sidle and what brings her back to the CSI team in Las Vegas,” it’s unclear whether William Petersen will be included in that reveal.

DescriptionLast year, was facing change on a new network. This winter, the series will get new backdrop.

For the comedy’s ninth season, the program will freshen up with an entirely new focus. The day-to-day operations within Sacred Heart will be (mostly) replaced with classrooms and teachers. That’s right, Scrubs is going back to medical school.

“It’ll be a lot like Paper Chase as a comedy,” creator Bill Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s going to be a different show. It’ll still be life-and-death stakes, but if the show is just Scrubs again in the hospital with a different person’s voiceover, it would be a disaster and people would be mad.”

Although there were will be a list of new cast members, two vets will anchor the show. John C. McGinley and Donald Faison will both appear as med school professors. Meanwhile, other favorites - including Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes and Ken Jenkins - are slated to make guest appearances. The hospital will also be seen from time to time.

No premiere date has yet been announced for the midseason show.
