Latest Video: FilmCrunch 067: Hairspray, Chuck & Larry, Premonition reviewed
Veronica Santiago and Neil Estep review Hairspray, Chuck & Larry, and Premonition in this episode of FilmCrunch.Play Video
Sure, I had my doubts. There’s a whole lot of junk on TV these days – and some of the junkiest and trashiest of all is in the reality TV genre. I admit, I turned my nose straight up in the air when I read that A&E was going to put The Two Coreys back in the limelight. I mean, come on, The Lost Boys is soooo over. So, late one Monday night when I just happened to catch the pilot episode, I was all ready to start cracking jokes and laughing at these two washed-up former pinup boys.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered The Two Coreys are actually reality TV magic – and a helluva good pick for A&E after all. Honestly, the idea sounds awful. Haim and Feldman, two thirty-somethings who saw their stars rise and fall before the tender age of twenty, a pair of BFF who found life leading them into substance abuse and late night partying before they were even legal. Reunited by reality two decades after they found notoriety with a vampire flick, a veritable Odd Couple for the reality genre. Seriously…this is not an idea that should work. Ever.

Constantine’s Album Release
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Talent, Gossip
Though many people are already looking forward to a new season of American Idol, some may still remember the contestants from season four. Carrie Underwood, country diva, walked away with the Idol crown…but that doesn’t mean fourth-place finisher Constantine Maroulis isn’t still making music. His sultry eyes and classic croon won over female fans years ago, and his good looks won him a spot on CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful. But, can he win over music fans? Maroulis has released a self-titled debut album, twelve pop-rock songs that showcase his singing range. So far, reviews aren’t all that favorable. There is no question Constantine can sing – he made it past Simon Cowell, right? – but a good album is often about more than singing. The album’s final track, Midnight Radio, includes shout-outs to famed singers like Yoko Ono, Tina Turner…and himself.

Simon Cowell to Produce Feature Film
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Talent, Gossip
Simon Cowell, the American Idol judge everyone loves to hate, will be producing Star Struck, his first feature film. A musical, the movie was inspired by Fame (that fabulous 1980s flick), and will detail the behind-the-scenes life of ten contestants in a televised singing competition. Cowell says the story will told through the eyes of the competitors, but it is an underdog story. Cowell also said it’s a “feel-good film.” The ten actors in the film will be chosen through casting calls, open auditions that will be held in several U.S. cities next year. Simon Cowell told reporters he hopes to use unknown actors and actresses in the film, and he will be present for a major portion of the open auditions.

Britney Spears has been getting her fair share of negative media attention lately, the sort that might prompt other celebs to change their image. Not Brit. Recently, the former pop star threw a baby bottle (those pesky things just had to be good for something) at two photographers as she left a Las Vegas spa. Spears also screamed “I am going to kill you!” at one of the photographers, who is planning to sue. Both photographers work for Flynet Pictures, a company that sells photos to People and US Weekly. Spears was leaving the spa with her two children in tow, threw the bottle, and told one of the photographers she would kill him – or hire someone who would. Lawyers for Britney Spears have not yet commented on the scene.

She’s been a singer, a reality star, even a reality show host, and now Kelly Osbourne is going to try the theater on for size. The 22-year-old daughter of Ozzy will play Mama Morton for seven weeks at London’s Cambridge Theater, beginning this fall. Kelly’s famous father was recently released from Rose Medical Center in Denver after an outpatient procedure. Reportedly, the rock god is “doing well.” Reports say that Ozzy had a blood clot removed from his leg, a simple surgery that shouldn’t prevent him from cheering Kelly on as she takes to one of England’s most famous stages.

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Talent, Rumors
Kid Rock will release his first album after a four-year recording studio hiatus, titled Rock’n’Roll Jesus, this October. The rock-rapper has emphasized rock on his album, leaving a lot of his hard core rapping on the shelf for this new release. Tracks include a song titled Amen, as well as other ballad-type songs. Rock’s album features motown, country, and even gospel influences, creating a mix that’s unlike many of the Kid’s other albums. Rock’s promotional tour for the album will begin soon, carrying on until well into 2008. Rock’s last album debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200 in 2003.

Drew Carey To Host The Price is Right
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Daytime, Games, Reality, CBS, Talent, News
Drew Carey is officially the new host of the Price is Right, the must-coveted gig vacated earlier this summer by Bob Barker. Carey announced his new role to David Letterman during Monday’s Late Show taping. Carey will also be hosting another CBS game show next month, the Power of 10. Promotional advertisements for the show have been running most of the summer. Carey will begin on Power of 10 August 7, though it has not yet been announced when he will start on Price. Rosie O’Donnell’s name was attached to Price earlier, but the comedienne refused the job when she found she’d have to move to L.A. It’s Drew Carey, former ABC fixture, for sure this time, leaving only one question to linger: will he be able to fill Barker’s sizable shoes and hold that famous skinny mike?

Lohan has been booked on two counts of misdemeanor and two felonies (transportation and possession). Lohan was released early this morning after posting a twenty-five thousand dollar bond. There were no passengers in Lohan’s vehicle. This arrest comes on the heels of a DUI charge in Beverly Hills, where Lindsay reportedly turned herself in for Memorial Day events involving a hit-and-run.
