Wanda Sykes Show Already Sinking?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, Talk Shows, FOX, Gossip, Video
FOX doesn’t give its new shows a lot of time to find their footing, and it seems that even Wanda Sykes might have feet made of clay. The network’s new Saturday night treat, The Wanda Sykes Show, is receiving some pretty dismal reviews. You might want to tune in before it’s too late.
Entertainment Weekly found the opening monologue to be a “scattershot,” boring event, peppered with “cliché” pro-Obama jokes. The Sykes show closed with a panel discussion, in which participants were allowed to sip at alcoholic beverages. The possibilities here are endless, but somehow it still stayed sedate.
I really rather miss Mad TV.

VIDEO: Taylor Swift Sings About Jonas, Lautner and West
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Video
Even though Taylor Swift is only 19 years old, the singer has already had enough drama in her life to fill up a number of country songs…or just one Saturday Night Live musical monologue.
In the tune above called “Monologue Song (La La La),” Swift addresses both Joe Jonas and Kanye West. She also fits in a shout out and air kiss for Taylor Lautner.
Speaking about werewolves, Taylor was later featured in a digital short dedicated to the Twilight series. You can watch “Firelight” after the jump.

Lady Gaga Told Gossip Girl Writers What to Do
Posted by Kathleen Kane Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip, News, Rumors, Spoilers, Video
In what can only be the ultimate fusion of music, drama, and fashion, Lady Gaga is set to appear on Gossip Girl. While the rest of the cast haven’t let any info slip about the anticipated episode, Gaga herself decided to fill us in on what to expect, as well as divulging how she told the writers how she wanted the story to pan out.
“I am the narrator behind what is going on with the characters and make the song part of the moment,” the “Paparazzi” singer explained, noting that she didn’t want to be on a stage, as many musicians awkwardly and randomly appear on television shows often do (also because she stressed that she doesn’t lip-sync).

Thursday Ratings: Fringe Hangs by a Thread
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, Talk Shows, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy, Survivor, The Office, Ratings
Just because FOX benefitted from the World Series doesn’t mean its programs did. Last night’s return of Fringe hit a series low in the demos. Meanwhile, the other networks resumed their old ways. ABC placed first yesterday with the 18-49s while CBS was on top with the viewers.
8pm
- Survivor: Samoa (12.7 million, 3.7/10 in 18-49) was up slightly.
- FlashForward (8.5 million, 2.6/7) was off by 500,000.
- Approximately 8.5 million welcomed back Bones (2.5/7).
- Community (5.6 million, 2.3/6) picked up 100,000; Parks and Recreation (4.9 million, 2.2/6) slid by 100,000.
- The Vampire Diaries (4.2 million, 2.0/5) did about the same.

Jackson Series to Debut Next Month
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Rumors
A&E has finally announced the date for their Jackson family reality series, filming for which has already begun. Michael Jackson turned down a Jacksons reunion concert, putting a halt to the proposed series. His death this past summer brought new life to the idea.
Now, the show will include an in-depth look at how the family is coming to terms with the loss of it’s most well-known son. So far, there’s no definite word on whether or not Michael’s three children will be a part of the series. The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty will premiere on December 13. Six episodes have been ordered so far.

How Does the White House Do Iron Chef?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Food & Home, Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip

One of the Food Network’s most intense cooking competitions will soon move to Washington, D.C. Address: 1600 Pennsylvania. First Lady Michelle Obama has invited Iron Chef America to compete in the House’s kitchens, featuring ingredients from the property’s own vegetable garden.
In the episode, Mrs. Obama will take over the Chairman’s responsibility of unveiling the secret ingredient. The chefs to be featured on the episode include Bobby Flay, Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse. White House chef Cristeta Comerford will also compete. The biggest disappointment of this - and really, it’s a great idea - is the fact that Morimoto won’t be featured. Bummer.

Gossip Girl Threesome Stirs More Controversy
Posted by Kathleen Kane Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Editorial, Gossip, News, Rumors
Hit teenage drama show Gossip Girl continues to anger parents everywhere after news of a threesome scene on Monday’s show leaked. Nothing new there, eh?
The Parents Television Council has their knickers in a bunch, deeming the scene “reckless and irresponsible” and attempting to get the network to not air the episode.
“Will you now be complicit in establishing a precedent and expectation that teenagers should engage in behaviors heretofore associated primarily with adult films? CW has been defending graphic content on Gossip Girl by asserting that they don’t target teenagers. Such a claim doesn’t even pass the ‘laugh test,’” said Parents Television Council President Tim Winter in a statement released yesterday.
I mean, this is the same show that heralded seemingly-negative reviews (“Every parent’s nightmare,” “Mind-blowingly inappropriate,” and “A nasty piece of work”) by slapping them on top of provocative, sexual pictures of the show’s characters for their season two ad campaign. They also garnered hype for the much anticipated gay kiss.
My point?

60s-Era Sesame Street Episodes Not Meant for Kids
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Daytime, Kids, PBS, DVD, Gossip

In celebration of forty years of Sesame Street, some of the early-season episodes are being released on DVD - just don’t show them to your kids. A disclaimer on the packaging explains: “These early Sesame Street episodes are intended for grown-ups, and may not suit the needs of today’s preschool child.”
But don’t get it wrong - from the very beginning, Sesame Street was designed just for kids. So, what gives?
