Friday Ratings: Mediocre Debut for Dollhouse

Back-to-back shows about strong, good-looking women wasn’t quite enough for FOX Friday. Terminator took a major hit in its new time slot while Eliza Dushku was bested by the Supernanny. In other news, Diane Sawyer’s Appalachian Mountains special gave ABC a rare win in the demos, though CBS was still tops with the viewers.

Friday Ratings: Howie Ain’t Doing It Anymore

Despite premiering to 7.7 million viewers, Howie Do It has seen a significant drop in recent weeks. The prank program has lost approximately 3 million viewers since its January debut. Meanwhile, CBS remains strong as always. The network once again took another Friday.

Friday Ratings: ABC Forces a Tie with CBS

Okay, so CBS was only airing reruns. And ABC only tied in the demos. (CBS was alone with the viewers.) But when was the last time you could remember any other network making a showing on Fridays?

Chuck in 3-D

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 2/2)

  • Chuck (NBC, 8pm):  “In a 3-D edition, global rock star Tyler Martin () is marked for murder, so the agents kidnap the musician to discover who’s behind the deadly plot.”  Unfortunately, they don’t understand his “My-plane-crashed-on-an-island-and-there-were-these-Others” story either.
  • Heroes (NBC, 9pm):  “The newly powerless Hiro resolves to help Ando become a true superhero.” Sorry, Suresh. You’re stuck with creating powers for yourself.
  • Medium (NBC, 10pm):  Season premiere. “Daughter Bridgette lands in trouble at school for drawing nude pictures of her art teacher.” She earned an “A” for technique, but an “F” for accuracy.
  • For the Love of Ray J (VH1, 10:30pm):  Series premiere. “The actor, singer-songwriter and brother of Brandy moves 14 beautiful women into his mansion and starts his search for love.” If can get a reality show, I guess her sex tape partner should get one too.

Friday Ratings: Ghost Whisperer Alone on Top

You gotta hand it to Jennifer Love Hewitt. Personal troubles won’t keep that girl down. Ghost Whisperer‘s numbers helped give CBS a double-win on Friday night.

Wednesday Ratings: Close Battle for Lost, Lie to Me

Even though it posted the best demos of its hour, the Season 5 premiere of Lost was off approximately 25% from its last opener. Meanwhile, FOX’s Lie to Me debuted to a larger audience than its direct ABC competitor.

Friday Ratings: Friday Night Lights Scores Higher Than Lipstick Jungle

There was a little bit of good news and bad news for NBC this weekend. Although the network saw smaller numbers for Howie Do It‘s second outing, the return of Friday Night Lights did better than the previous time slot holder (Lipstick Jungle). Unfortunately CBS’ dominant lineup made any improvements seem laughable.

Lost

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 1/19)

  • The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm):  “Ricky’s dad arrives in town with a proposal for how Ricky should handle impending fatherhood.” Apparently leaving town is an option?
  • House (FOX, 8pm):  “Cuddy discovers that caring for her newly adopted baby leaves her little time to run the hospital.” Taking care of House and a baby is an impossible feat.
  • Bromance (MTV, 9pm):  “The guys embark on a camping trip, but before reaching their destination, they stop at a biker bar where each must face off against a huge biker in the parking lot.” The reality is, many people want to kick ‘s ass. It’s time to hone their defense skills now.
  • Paranormal State (A&E, 10pm):  Season premiere. “A family believes their new home in suburban New Jersey is haunted. The team’s investigation leads them to dig in the yard for possible answers.” Haunting or no haunting, buried things in my yard is reason enough to move.

Friday Ratings: Flashpoint Starts with a Bang

This weekend’s premiere of Flashpoint made CBS’ Friday night lineup that much stronger. The series - with the help of Ghost Whisperer - returned to its largest audience yet. Meanwhile, the debut of Howie Do It did better than the group of ladies following it.

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 1/12)

  • 24 (FOX, 8pm):  “Jack is released from his Senate subcommittee hearing to help with the domestic threat and the investigation into former colleague Tony Almeida.” I can’t imagine what he would do to just to get out of jury duty.
  • Kyle XY (ABC Family, 9pm):  Season 3 premiere. “Lori, Declan, Josh and Andy deal with the choices they made at the prom.” Whatever happens at prom, stays at prom.
  • Man vs. Wild (Discovery, 10pm):  “An adventure in the jungles of Belize has the host reckoning with a 9-foot boa constrictor and a dangerous white-water river.” The longer the snake, the more skin to pee in.
