30 Rock: If James Franco doesn’t watch out, he might start liking this TV thing and never turn back. The Milk star has not only lined up a stint on General Hospital, he will also appear as himself on the Emmy-winning comedy. Although NBC would not confirm the casting, it’s believed James will have a faux celebrity romance with Jenna (Jane Krakowski).

“You’re lucky I’m retired.”
When given a chance to either move to Los Angeles with his daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) or get caught up in another day of hell, Jack Bauer makes the smart choice: he throws himself into harm’s way.
In this trailer for Season 8 of 24, Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) finds himself in New York trying to stop the assassination of a Middle Eastern leader (Slumdog Millionaire‘s Anil Kapoor) at the United Nations. New faces helping him along with this mission include Katee Sackhoff, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Mykelti Williamson.
24 returns to FOX’s schedule on January 17.

Parenthood: What was once linked to both Maura Tierney and Helen Hunt, now belongs to Lauren Graham. The Gilmore Girls actress has officially been cast as Sarah Braverman in NBC’s Parenthood. Could the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards be another year for firsts?
Around this same time last September, the execs of basic cable were thrilled to see one of their own finally win the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series (Mad Men). Meanwhile, producers of reality fare saw an award given to one of their hosts (Jeff Probst). So which other category could be covered during this round? Animation.
For the first time since 1961 (when The Flintstones were still on air), an animated program has been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. So will Family Guy finally go where The Simpsons has never gone before? Not if the six other contenders have anything to say about it!
So who won? Who lost? Which funnyman took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor since Jeremy Piven wasn’t even nominated? Read our West Coast play-by-play account of this evening’s telecast and find out!

Bright and early this morning, Chandra Wilson and Jim Parsons announced the nominees for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards.
Just like last year, we saw many first-timers named and a long list of cable acknowledgements (for both pay and basic channels). Thanks to expanded categories, we also saw a number of surprises (Flight of the Conchords, Family Guy) and overdue nominations (How I Met Your Mother, Big Love).
For the second year in a row, Mad Men, with its 16 nominations, topped all drama programs. Meanwhile, 30 Rock broke comedy records with a whopping 22 noms. Overall, HBO was the most-nominated network with 99 mentions while NBC - yes, NBC - came in second.
This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris on Sept. 20 on CBS.

The Big Apple won’t be the only new thing 24 fans see next year. In addition to setting Season 8 in New York (most of the show will actually be filmed in LA), the producers will be spicing up the line-up with a list of new cast members.
Katee Sackhoff: The Battlestar Galactica star has just been cast to play Dana Walsh, data analyst in CTU’s NYC branch. Walsh - who’s romantically involved with agent Davis Cole (see below) - also comes with a secret. (Natch.)

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Games, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, 24, Dancing With The Stars, Medium, Ratings
A mere 20,000 viewers. That was the only thing keeping CBS from winning both the viewers and the demos last night. ABC’s reality block - with its 12.18 million average - barely managed to squeak past the Eye and its 12.16 million followers.
8pm
- Dancing with the Stars (18.7 million, 4.2/12 in 18-49) picked up 400,000.
- 24‘s finale (9.4 million, 3.0/8) was down 600,000 from last week.
- Rules of Engagement (2.6/8) rang up 7.5 million; How I Met Your Mother (3.7/10 wrapped up with 8.7 million.
- Deal or No Deal (4.8 million, 1.3/4) scored 600,000 more.
- Gossip Girl (2.2 million, 1.1/3) lost 100,000.

MONDAY 5/18)
- 24 (FOX, 8pm): Two-hour finale. “Jack reaches an emotional breaking point.” I would advise everyone to stay out of head-butting range from Bauer.
- The Bachelorette (ABC, 9pm): Season premiere. “Jillian Harris, the 29-year-old Canadian who was a runner-up for the heart of 2009 Bachelor Jason Mesnick, gets a new perspective on the rose ceremony.” She plans on being much more selective about those she
jumps into hot tubs withhands stems to. - Table for 12 (TLC, 9pm): “The Hayes family embarks on a 420-mile road trip to Canada.” The free health care will make up for the cost in gas.
- Gotti’s Way 2 (VH1, 10:30pm): “While in therapy, Debbie realizes a need for boundaries on her relationship with Irv.” The audience at home will still be allowed full access though.
