VIDEO: President Obama Visits David Letterman

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, CBS, Video

Although he had already appeared on five different talk shows over the weekend, disclosed new information during his first Late Show visit as a sitting POTUS.

“First of all, I think it’s important to realize that I was actually black before the election,” the President clarified to America last night. The humorous comment - a response to the supposed presence of racism in the health care debate - was followed by shock. “Really!... How long have you been a black man?” David Letterman joked.

And while it was clear Obama had an agenda behind his appearance (he said he wanted to see the heart-shaped potato an audience member brought), the host presented his own “Top Ten Reasons President Obama Agreed To Appear On The Late Show.” You can read those after the jump.

FOX News Channel Commentators Completely Out of Control

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Talk Shows, Cable, FOX, Gossip, News

Barack Obama has long been tainted with overtones of right-wing political agendas, often offering up their own slightly skewed viewpoint of political officials. Their commentators are often good for a laugh, but in recent months the channel has done everything possible to discredit President Barack Obama. It seems FOX News still can’t get over the fact that he won the election - despite their repeated “mistakes” of calling him “Osama” and all their attempts to deny that he was even born in the U.S.

made an appearance on Tuesday’s Fox & Friends to give his opinion: that the President is a racist. To be more clear, he stated that Obama has “a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.”

“The guy is, I believe, a racist,” said Beck.

This Week on TV (6/22-6/28)

Hung

(You can view TV Envy’s Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY (6/22)

  • Jon & Kate Plus Eight (TLC, 9pm):  Jon & Kate make some life-changing decisions. Well, Kate technically made the decision; Jon just didn’t want to argue.
  • Charm School (VH1, 9pm):  Season premiere. “Former contestants from VH1 reality shows work for charity (and a chance to win $100,000).” No good deed comes without incentives.
  • Make It or Break It (ABC Family, 9pm):  Series premiere. “In this drama focusing on the lives of teen gymnasts who strive to make it to the Olympics, new girl Emily Kmetko begins training alongside veterans who are both impressed with and threatened by her.” This could bring a whole new definition to the term “punch front.”
  • Run’s House (MTV, 10pm):  “The family rallies around JoJo after he’s charged with marijuana possession.” This whole time they had a connection within the home.

Wednesday Ratings: Country Experiencing Obama Fatigue

Looks like President Obama wasn’t what viewers had in mind for sweeps. Last night’s umpteenth press conference was seen by 29% less people than the March 24th version. Although FOX was able to beat the other networks for its airing of Lie to Me, the strategic move was probably a moot point. American Idol would have given the network a win anyway.

Barack Obama8pm

  • (7.9 million, 2.4/7 in 18-49) did the same as last week.
  • NBC’s coverage of the presser (1.6/5) drew in 6.7 million.
  • ABC’s political hour (1.6/5) attracted 6.1 million.
  • Approximately 6 million watched the president on CBS (1.5/5).
  • (4 million, 1.8/6) remained steady.

FOX: No Room for Barack Obama on Schedule

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Specials, FOX, Gossip

Barack Obama , President of the United States of America, is scheduled to address the nation on Wednesday. But don’t worry, FOX isn’t going to go changing their programming just on his account. If you’d rather watch Tim Roth, you can still catch Lie to Me in its regular time slot.

It’s a bold move, and it might be a bad one. Obama’s Wednesday news conference will celebrate his first one hundred days as President. It’s the third press conference he’s held while in office, and it will be aired by ABC, CBS and NBC, along with several cable networks.

What are President Obama’s Favorite Shows?

EntourageCould President Obama’s secret love of HBO have anything to do with the channel’s inaugural coverage?

Thanks to his highly-publicized selections before the NCAA tournament, the country already knows that our POTUS likes to watch a little basketball. But what other programs does he like to follow when he has some free time?

Although he referenced Simon Cowell during his recent appearance on Jay Leno, American Idol apparently doesn’t rank at the top of Obama’s must watch list. According to Politico, the President has a preference for two shows coincidentally on the same pay channel.

“We would talk about all the time,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs revealed. “I remember one time I e-mailed him because [a] call was scheduled for the last 15 minutes of Entourage and I said, ‘Just be late and we can just watch Entourage and still get on and do the call,’” Gibbs added. (On a side note: Jeremy Piven’s character is based on Ari Emanuel, the Chief of Staff’s real-life brother.)

American Idol: Simon Cowell and Barack Obama…So Happy Together?

Barack Obama Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell recently let the beans spill during a routine radio interview: the minds behind hope to receive a visit from President Barack Obama in the near future.

“We’re trying,” Cowell admitted that the show would like to book an appearance from the Head Honcho himself. The acerbic judge also noticed that Obama mentioned his name during the much talked-about appearance on The Tonight Show. Cowell related the moment, saying that “was on the Tonight Show, talking about how everyone in Washington is a critic.” Indeed, it was one of the funnier moments of the interview. “And then he said: ‘unfortunately, they’re all like Simon Cowell.’ I’m not sure if that’s a compliment or not.”

I’m not, either, but there’s no question about whether or not wants to compliment the country’s Commander-in-Chief. The famously hard-to-please judge thinks Obama is “a really cool guy.”

Cool enough to appear on reality TV? We’ll have to wait and see.
