MTV VIDEO: Beyonce Shares VMAs Spotlight with Taylor Swift

UPDATE: You can read Taylor Swift’s response to West’s outburst here.

Hey Kanye—screw your apology letter. This is what “class” looks like.

Having witnessed Taylor Swift’s VMAs moment interrupted by one of her “fans,” Beyonce Knowles did what was right. While accepting her award for Video of the Year, the singer allowed the 19-year-old to pick up where she left off.

“I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV Award with Destiny’s Child, and it was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So I’d like Taylor to come out and have her moment,” Knowles said.

Cue another standing ovation…for both stars.

MTV VIDEO: Kanye West Disrespects Taylor Swift at VMAs

UPDATE: You can read Taylor Swift’s response here.
UPDATE: You can read Kanye West’s “apology” here.

Let’s just make this clear—this stunt was not orchestrated like Bruno’s moment with Eminem.

During tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West stunned the audience—and an already stunned —with a declaration that will be talked about for quite some time. While accepting an award for Best Female Video, the country singer was interrupted by the rapper who was upset about Beyonce’s loss in the category.

Although Kanye is known for acting like a child when he is not presented an award, he felt it was necessary to defend Ms. Knowles’ honor during Taylor’s moment on stage. (Based on the shocked expression on Beyonce’s face, she clearly didn’t want his help.) Unfortunately, that left the beautiful 19-year-old standing there with nothing left to say.

Golden Globes: Who Wins the Best Dressed Award?

Description

Not everyone was able to walk away a winner at last night’s Golden Globes, but some stand out whether or not they received a statue. Some of the Hollywood elite looked like winners…while others, I wish I didn’t have to look at through the night at all.

All the results are in and the victories are tallied - but one. When it comes to last night’s Golden Globes, who wins the best dressed award?

Randomly Commenting About: Miley Cyrus’ Cancer Event Performance

Even though I really like the single (and loved the cause for which it was written), there was one musician who really stuck out during Friday night’s event: Miley Cyrus.

The song - which is available for purchase on iTunes - was performed live this weekend from New York’s Radio City Music Hall. And while “Just Stand Up” earned a nice reception, I couldn’t help but notice how Miley Cyrus’ immature voice stuck out like a grating sore thumb. Did she really deserve to be up on the same stage as Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, and Carrie Underwood? Ehh, I think not.

This Week On TV (2/4-2/10)

Survivor Micronesia

(You can view the whole Revamped TV Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY (2/4)

  • Welcome to the Captain (CBS, 8:30):  Series premiere.  “A Hollywood wunderkind in a career slump is persuaded by his friend to move into his famous Tinseltown apartment building with an eclectic group of tenants.”  Eclectic = show gone soon.
  • Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX, 9pm):  “John discovers the figure may be bleaker than he imagined.”  I’m confused.  If he’s currently in 2007, he should have already seen what the future looks like in .
  • The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS, 9:30):  Season Three premiere.  “Christine gets overly nervous about sleeping with Mr. Harris () for the first time.”  I think I already saw this episode…..on .

Justin TimberlakeThe heaped honors this week awarding Beyonce, , Linkin Park and Daughtry (led by American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry) with three nominations each. Daughtry will also be a performer, along with Celine Dion, Fergie and Rihanna.  is set to host the event, which will air on ABC November 18.

Nominees for the AMAs are initially chosen based upon record sales, but this year marks a first for the award show: members of the public will be able to vote for nominees online.

UPDATE:  Rudolph Not Returning to SNL After All

Maya Rudolph Despite their earlier scoop, TV Guide is now doing an about face on their Maya Rudolph report.  It turns out she won’t be renewing her contract as hoped.  After seven seasons on the show, the actress—widely known for her impressions of Oprah, Beyonce and Donatella Versace—is apparently leaving for ‘family-based’ reasons.

This now leaves only two females behind in the current cast.  While we love Kristin Wiig and Amy Poehler, we hope Lorne Michaels can bring them some new help asap.  We’d hate to see these ladies burn out too soon.

The 2007 MTV Video Music Awards

MTV Moon MenBefore this evening’s festivities begin, the producers of the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards should really thank the scandal-plagued artists who’ve unintentionally thrown publicity their way.  Tonight, we’ll be thinking about those performers who’ve canceled because they need to be in rehab (Amy Winehouse) and closely watching those who should probably go back ().

We’d been warning you for weeks that this would be a one-time only telecast, but in case you forgot—we hope this helps.  And for those who live on the West Coast (like me), you can play along and read our coverage as if it were in real-time:

Big Names Attached to VMAs

MTV VMAEach year, the VMAs honor the artists that give us the most appealing music videos – somehow, the artists who get the nods are also top sellers. Beyonce and Justin Timberlake cleared seven nominations each, and both are up for video of the year. MTV’s glitzy awards show always features live music, celebrity interviews, and plenty of moon man statues. Beyonce got the video of the year nod for “Irreplaceable,” while Timberlake’s “What Goes Around…Comes Around” and “D.A.N.C.E.” both grabbed a spot in this best-of-the-best category. Amy Winehouse was nominated for “Rehab,” Rihanna for “Umbrella,” and Kanye West will compete with “Stronger” for video of the year.
