It’s not even Saturday, yet the VMA references have already begun.
In new promos for Saturday Night Live, Bill Hader gets a jump start on the Kanye West jokes in these clips with musical guest/actress Taylor Swift. Will this be the last time we hear the rapper’s name mentioned this week? I hope not!
Other actors/singers scheduled to appear on SNL in the weeks to come include January Jones (Mad Men) and the Black Eyed Peas on November 14 and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days of Summer) and the Dave Matthews Band on November 21.

Celine Dion: That’s Just The Woman In Me
Posted by Jacci Lewis Categories: Music, Prime Time, Specials, CBS, Editorial
When it comes to singer Celine Dion, most people fall into one of two categories: the ‘It’s the soundtrack of my life’ group or the ‘Please God, make it stop…MAKE IT STOP’ group. There is a third, smaller category of people though who don’t care one way or another about her music but just enjoy how delightfully, over-the-top cheesy she is. (There is a reason certain celebrities are satirized on Saturday Night Live.)
Friday night CBS aired Dion’s one-hour primetime special, Celine Dion: That’s Just The Woman In Me. The show was taped in front of a live audience at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre back on January 12. It was the 5-time Grammy winner’s first concert since wrapping up her 5-year run in Las Vegas.
The title of Celine Dion’s new album, Taking Chances, describes the show fairly well. It was a one hour mix of glitzy dance numbers, power ballads, celebrity duets and cameos, a somewhat staged Q&A session and heck, even an appearance by one of the stars of High School Musical!
The opening act featured Dion in a sparkly, gold mini-dress in a very Vegas-esque song and dance routine. Her dancing features a lot of little kicks and chest pounding motions. One might describe it as spastic. One might even question why such an accomplished singer needs to be part of such an over-choreographed dance routine. But something about Celine Dion’s sincerity makes the whole scary scene a bit more forgivable.

Engagement News for Fergie, New York
Despite turning down a proposal from George “Tailor Made” Weisgerber on the recent finale of her show, People is reporting that Tiffany “New York” Pollard recently had a change of heart. After selecting George at the end of I Love New York 2’s second season, Pollard, 25, told her suitor she wanted to wait before agreeing to any nuptials. Although he agreed to wait the requested 24-months, the attention-seeking lovesick Weisgerber, 32, decided to try again anyway. Fortunately, it turns out the 2nd-time was a charm. (Let’s just hope the same can be said of this engagement; New York’s season one betrothal only lasted a few months.) Fans of the series can witness the awkward/romantic moment for themselves when I Love New York 2’s reunion special airs on January 6.
Meanwhile, another star familiar to the viewers of the cable channel has news of her own to celebrate. Fergie, 2007’s It Girl, just became engaged to actor Josh Duhamel. The Black Eyed Peas singer, 32, and star of Las Vegas, 35, have been together for three years. The couple started dating shortly after she made an appearance on his NBC show.
