Daytime Dish: Eric Braeden Discusses Young and the Restless Return
While it was inevitable that Victor Newman’s character would return in some form, fans of The Young and the Restless should be happy to know that the actor hasn’t changed.
After nearly a month of negotiations with his bosses (and public discussions with the media), soap opera vet Eric Braeden has agreed to return to the long-running CBS drama. The 68-year-old’s change of heart came just one week after telling Entertainment Weekly that he was done for good.

VIDEO: Dehydrated Survivor Contestant Collapses During Challenge
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, CBS, Survivor, News, Video
Even though he’s already seen a contestant medivaced out of the Australian Outback after falling into a fire (you can relive that moment after the jump), Survivor‘s Jeff Probst said last night’s incident with Russell Swan frightened him. “It was the scariest moment I’ve ever had on this show…nineteen seasons I have never been more afraid in my life of how bad things were.”
During a reward challenge, Swan collapsed in the middle of the competition due to hydration. Although the severity of the problem was initially unclear (all of the survivors were blindfolded), Probst immediately paused the challenge once he recognized the situation. The challenge was later canceled altogether.
“For the next 45 minutes we monitored Russell’s vital signs. We gave him water from his canteen. We gave him oxygen. We propped him up and gave him time to try to relax and get calm,” Probst detailed for Entertainment Weekly. Although there are times contestants return to the game after a visit with medics, the 42-year-old attorney was never given a choice. An unexpected drop in blood pressure forced the producers to end Swan’s run for him.

CBS Brings Game Show Antique to the Network
With soap opera relic Guiding Light going off the air, CBS is looking at a daytime programming gap they haven’t had to worry about for six decades. You see, Guiding Light is so dusty is used to run on CBS radio. It’s been on CBS TV since 1952. That is a long-running show.
Time to hit the panic button now. So what’s CBS going to do to fill the gap left by this extremely old (and obviously highly successful) daytime drama? How about dredging up an almost equally-ancient game show and shoving it back onto the schedule?
And I’m pretty sure that’s how the pitch went when the network decided to breathe new life into Let’s Make a Deal, that “choose a door” delight once emceed by the irreplaceable Monty Hall. Will you ride away in a brand new car…or get stuck with a goat?

Television Coverage of Jackson’s Star-Studded Memorial

UPDATE: CBS and NBC have now decided to jump on the live coverage bandwagon.
Not a winner in the Michael Jackson memorial lottery? Not a problem. You can still get a front row viewing while sparing yourself the cost of a flight.
Although 17,500 get the chance to be in either the Staples Center or the Nokia Theater, free television coverage will allow everyone an opportunity to witness the events as they unfold.
According to a release from the Jackson family, participants at Tuesday’s memorial include Kobe Bryant, Mariah Carey, Berry Gordy, Jennifer Hudson, Shaheen Jafargholi (finalist on Britain’s Got Talent), Magic Johnson, Martin Luther King III, Bernice A. King, John Mayer, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Rev. Al Sharpton, Brooke Shields, Usher and Stevie Wonder.

Summer Dates for Big Brother Announced
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, CBS, News
If you’re secretly hoping Wipeout would up the drama and add wasteful food stunts, then Big Brother may be the better option for you.
In just over a month, CBS - and a pregnant Julie Chen - will kick off the 11th installment (has there really been that many already?) of the program. As usual, the series will air thrice-weekly episodes. No word at this time what big twist the reality show will have up its sleeve this time around. Are half the contestants secretly transsexuals? Will bosses and fired employees find themselves competing against each other? Is one really a terminator?
Big Brother 11 premieres Thursday, July 9th at @ 8:00. The show will then air on Sundays @ 8:00 and Tuesdays @ 9:00.

Medium Moves to CBS
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, CBS, MTV, Medium, Cancellations, Renewals

The showrunners at Medium are feeling quite large today.
One day after receiving a cancellation notice, the cast and crew of the NBC series were given a reprieve. The Patricia Arquette vehicle will now be heading over to CBS.
Being booted by the Peacock might have actually been the best thing for the show. Medium will now get a plum spot right after Ghost Whisperer on Fridays. Although that position is currently occupied by Flashpoint, the police drama is expected to return sometime midseason.

Schedule Changes: Harper’s, Chopping Block and Sit Down, Shut Up
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, CBS, FOX, NBC

Could this be the slow death of a murder mystery? After only three weeks in a high profile time slot, Harper’s Island is getting a new home. (Was it because it was getting slaughtered in the ratings?) The series - which only had 13 episodes to begin with - is now being pushed to Saturdays @ 9:00 effective immediately. Repeats will fill the new Thursday hole for the next two weeks.
Fans of FOX’s Sunday animation lineup will also see a change this weekend. A two-week trial run of Sit Down, Shut Up has earned the comedy an earlier time slot. The freshman program will now air at 7:00 right before a repeat of American Dad. Original episodes of King of the Hill will then take over the 8:30 slot.

A week-long celebration on Harper’s Island, a fictional island near Seattle, will consist of blood and screams rather than rice and laughter. One person will murdered each week during the show’s 13-episode run.
Not sure if you want to invest more time in another whodunit? Preview the teaser above and the others after the jump. If you want to see more, tune in this Thursday @ 10pm.
