Celebs Celebrate 40 Years of Sesame Street
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Daytime, Kids, PBS,
Celebrities are lining up to appear on the PBS children’s series Sesame Street. Though the viewers probably aren’t in the target audience for many of these A-list stars, Sesame Street holds a special place in many of our hearts. The series is celebrating its 40th season on TV, and it’s going to get a year to remember.
So far, the guest list for the season includes huge names like Jake Gyllenhaal, Adam Sandler, Cameron Diaz, Eva Longoria-Parker, Ricky Gervais, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Hugh Jackman, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Matthew Fox. First Lady Michelle Obama will also be putting in an appearance.

Jimmy Fallon’s First Guests Unveiled
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, NBC,
Yesterday’s Conan O’Brien finale (the New York version) officially kicked off the countdown for his successor’s premiere.
Beginning next month, a host of A-list celebrities will help launch Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Tina Fey (NBC star), Donald Trump (NBC star), Drew Barrymore (his Fever Pitch costar) and Cameron Diaz (why??) are among the names slated for Week 1.
Unfortunately, the SNL vet has elected to get the ball rolling with one of the most difficult interviewees out there: Robert De Niro. (I strongly suggest Fallon dissect Brian Williams’ awkward attempt first.)
Late Night debuts @ 12:30 A.M. on March 2nd.

2009 Golden Globe Awards
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Prime Time, Cable, HBO, NBC, News,
One year after a strike-induced absence, the drinking resumed. Although the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards drew its usual set of followers tonight, this year’s program carried even more significance than usual. The reason? Heath Ledger.
With or without the Dark Knight nomination, the ceremony would have been interesting. Was this going to be the year a film about an Indian game show (Slumdog Millionaire) won top prize? Would either Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia, Doubt) or Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road, The Reader) walk away with two awards? Could Mickey Rourke‘s comeback performance in The Wrestler earn him a surprise win over Sean Penn (Milk)?
To find out the answer to these questions (and many more), you can read our detailed coverage after the jump!

Shrek the Halls With a Big Green Ogre
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Animation, Kids, Prime Time, ABC,
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la! Not only will Shrek the Third be coming to DVD soon (November 13), but ABC will be airing a Christmas special with the loveable green guy and his band of kooky friends. I don’t know how well it will hold up to classic fan favorites like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman or A Charlie Brown Christmas, but I’m all for a new Christmas special that isn’t another sequel to Frosty. Shrek the Halls will air on November 28th at 8:00 p.m. and will no doubt thrill kids with the animation and voice talents of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas. The ogre’s humbug ways are challenged by his family and friends (even the Gingerbread Man of “Not my gumdrop buttons!” infamy is on hand) and you can bet the gang will make the holidays truly special. Because that’s how all Christmas specials end, right? Now I’d like to see Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas return to television—you can keep your Frosty Returns and Frosty’s Winter Wonderland—bring on the jug band!

Divorce is in the Air
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Cable, Gossip, Rumors,
With the recent announcements of a number of celeb divorces, it seems no one can stay together in Hollywood anymore. Case in point—two guys who have seemingly gotten too big for their britches, Johnny Knoxville and Wayne Brady. The Jackass star and his wife of 12 years, Melanie Lynn Clapp, just split, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple has an 11-year-old daughter, whom Knoxville is seeking joint custody. Wayne Brady, formerly of Who’s Line is it Anyway? and his wife are also heading to divorce court. Soon-to-be-ex Mandie Brady filed for divorce, although no reason was stated publicly. She is trying to secure joint legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old daughter, Maile. Add another divorce to the list—illusionist Criss Angel and his wife (who nobody seemed to know about, by the way) are in a messy legal battle—she’s suing him for divorce, saying that he had an affair with Cameron Diaz and stopped providing financial support. This one is definitely going to get interesting in the coming weeks, no doubt.
