Drew Carey to Pay $1M for New Twitter Account
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Gossip, Internet
Only in Burbank. The Price is Right host Drew Carey took to Twitter after a Seattle Sounders win on October 3 (I know, I know, who? Evidently, they’re a soccer team…and evidently, Carey’s part owner) to share his joy, whereupon he discovered that the Twitter name @Drew was being auctioned off.
It was being auctioned off by Drew Olanoff, a blogger who has battled cancer. He got the idea to auction off his username, with proceeds to be sent to the LiveStrong Foundation. “I thought it was so much fun that I bid $25,000,” Carey explained to CNN. “I was in such a good mood that I raised it to $100,000.”
Hear that, soccer fans? If you want something from Drew Carey, catch him about ten minutes after the Sounders win.

Howie Mandel to Host Game Show Awards
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Award Shows, Games, Reality, Cable, Amazing Race, The, American Idol, Gossip

The Game Show Network will sponsor the first-ever game show awards, an event that will celebrate everything the cable channel loves about televising gaming. Howie Mandel will emcee the event, which airs June 6 at 8pm ET on GSN.
“I want the game show awards to be unlike any awards show on television,” Mandel said in a recent statement. “We’ll see what happens.” Mandel’s comedic career enjoyed renewed success with the launch of Deal or No Deal, which became a hit for NBC. Mandel was nominated for an Emmy in 2008 by virtue of his work on the show.

MONDAY (4/28)
- Deal or No Deal (NBC, 8pm): “Darth Vader subs for The Banker in a Star Wars-themed episode that also features Carrie Fisher, R2-D2 and Chewbacca, who cheer on contesants in a winner-take-all match.” As if I needed a reason to avoid this program altogether.
- House (FOX, 9pm): New episode. “House suspects that an ER patient with a sunny disposition has a bigger problem than was initially diagnosed. The reason: He thinks the patient is too nice.” I have to admit it—cheery people are a freak of nature.
- Medium (NBC, 10pm): “Joe surprises Allison by buying her a used car, but Allison’s subsequent visions warn of the vehicle’s unsavory past.” Is it a 1958 Plymouth Fury that responds to the name ‘Christine’?
- CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm): “A clue in a case involving the discovery of a body point the CSIs to a robbery that’s being planned on a target who holds a disturbing secret.” Murders have never been linked to anti-climatic or lame secrets.

Friday Ratings: Drew Carey Outmuscles Dennis Miller
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Games, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, Sports, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Grey's Anatomy, House, Ratings
Although Amne$ia debuted with good numbers last week, it didn’t have Drew Carey to contend with then. When put up against The Price is Right, the new program looked pale in comparison.
8pm
- The Price is Right (9.5 million, 2.2/7 in 18-49) earned 100,000 more viewers than last week.
- Bones* (6.4 million, 1.6/5) was off track by 600,000.
- Amne$ia (5.1 million, 1.4/5) lost 2.5 forgetful fans.
- Friday Night Smackdown (4.7 million, 1.4/5) was even with its last performance.
- Grey’s Anatomy (4.2 million, 1.2/4) was up slightly.

MONDAY (2/25)
- A Raisin in the Sun (ABC, 8pm): Diddy and the rest of his Broadway cast bring the play to the small screen. I’m sorry - I believe his theater name is Sean Combs.
- The Moment of Truth (FOX, 8pm): Special night. Apparently this episode is so controversial, the producers debated airing it. Then they realized what network they were on and just went with it.
- Welcome to the Captain (CBS, 8:30): “Hope makes some new friends so she won’t be alone on Friday nights.” Their names? Jack and Daniels.
- Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (CW, 9pm): “The women receive a surprise visit from JC Chasez.” They, too, are wondering why he doesn’t have anything better to do.

MONDAY (2/18)
- Prison Break (FOX, 8pm): Tonight may be the end of the show as we currently know it. Maybe Michael can finally let go of that steely gaze now.
- Dance War (ABC, 8pm): The next Dancing with the Stars contenders will be announced during the spinoff’s season finale. Finally, a reason for me to watch.
- Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (CW, 9pm): Robin Antin is searching for a gal to complete an entirely different musical act. With Danity Kane already taken, she had to settle for the 2nd crappiest group name available.
- My Dad is Better Than Your Dad (NBC, 9pm): “This competition series features fathers and their children in challenges that test the patriarch’s strength, intelligence and parenting skills.” Since when did NBC start stealing ideas from Nick TV?

Rosie O’Donnell Joining MSNBC?
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Daytime, Prime Time, Talk Shows, Cable, NBC, Rumors
Sounds like Rosie O’Donnell is turning lemons into lemonade since she left The View. The once nicey-nice daytime talk show host turned controversial table talker of The View is in negotiations with MSNBC to have her own talk show again. Could it be true? And if it is, will people tune in? If this is a go, she will host a prime time show opposite Larry King. Well heck, anything has to be better than Larry King, right? Not so fast… nothing is a done deal yet and in fact NBC is not confirming any details, nor is her rep commenting about the possible show. But Rosie did give a hint at a recent book signing, saying that her competition would soon be “the guy with the suspenders and the long, long face.” Do you think this show has a chance of getting off the ground? You’ll be able to catch O’Donnell on the small screen again as Dawn Budge on FX’s Nip/Tuck. And you may recall she came this close to landing the hosting gig on The Price is Right. Thankfully, Drew Carey was the big winner on that front.

Drew Carey Right for Price?
When Bob Barker left CBS’s Price is Right, the network started to scramble to fill his sizable shoes. Rumors abounded, names were tied to CBS, and everyone waited to see what would happen. Rosie O’Donnell turned the gig down, and Drew Carey emerged from obscurity to take the job. He did turn it down first, still tasting the bitter disappointment after his own show left the airwaves. CBS called back to woo Carey, a tactic that worked. Monday, Carey started his duties as the new host of Price.
In a recent interview, Carey stated, “This is a really good fit. I’m really comfortable here…” Well, I made it a point to watch Carey on Monday, and I am of a different opinion. The former Whose Line Is It Anyway? host seemed uncomfortable, nervous, and had difficulty controlling contestants. His jokes were dry, his chitchat vague, and his face bloated. But then, admittedly, I have never been a Drew Carey fan. I don’t think he’s funny…I think he just has a good knack for surrounding himself with terribly funny people.
