Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Gossip,
“I tell you, my ego got really bruised. When everyone did but me, that doesn’t feel good at all. There were certain years I thought, ‘Maybe I have a shot,’ like the Monica-Chandler years. But I don’t know how it happens and why or how. Maybe I wasn’t ready.”
-Courteney Cox, who won’t be winning an Emmy for Cougar Town, on being the only Friends cast member to not receive a nomination.

Glee Cast Talks Emmy Nods and Season Premiere
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Gossip, Video,
Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Jesslyn Gilsig and Cory Monteith were just a few of the Glee cast members who walked the red carpet this week for a TVAcademy event.
Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) and Jayma Mays (Emma Pillsbury) discussed the frocks they’ll wear for the upcoming Emmy awards (Glee scored a jaw-dropping 19 nominations). Michele, who is up for a Best Actress statue, is going for a look that’s “different” from her previous Golden Globes attire. Mays joked that she might look for her red carpet gown at Ross Dress for Less. She says her “gorgeous” husband is “the perfect accessory.”
Other cast members also discussed their dates. Chris Colfer (Kurt Hummel) is bringing his parents, an act Cory Monteith might mimick. He initially said he will probably take his mom, then grinned and added, “Maybe I’ll bring a cute girl to the Emmys.” Ask Lea!

“The End” episode of Lost (which is, indeed, just that) will air in Italy, England, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Canada, Israel and the United States…at the same time. Though the finale will air at 5 in the morning in the UK, Sky 1 HD is looking forward to the event eagerly. “With something as hotly anticipated as the Lost finale, it makes sense to show it at exactly the same time as millions across America will see it,” explained one spokesperson.

Family Guy Campaigns for the Emmy
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Animation, Award Shows, Comedy, Prime Time, FOX, Family Guy, Gossip, Video,
Family Guy’s Emmy clip, which dubs in new sound over footage from an episode, is already a classic. This is truly a great award campaign, though the animated comedy hardly lacks for accolades. Family Guy has been nominated in several different Emmy categories ten times, winning three.
The 2009 nomination marks the first time the series has been up for Outstanding Comedy Series, a significant achievement. The last animated series to receive the same recognition was The Flintstones.
The above video uses violence to make it’s case for why Family Guy should win, and I find it pretty effective.

Mad Men Gets No Post-Emmy Ratings Bump
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Cable, News, Ratings,
Well - at least they’ll have their statues to keep them warm.
Despite Best Drama wins this year at both the Emmys and the Golden Globes, the buzz still hasn’t paid off for Mad Men.
Although AMC’s critical darling has seen an improvement since its first season (when it averaged 915,000 viewers), the show still struggles to draw audiences to its basic cable channel. After pulling in 1.95 million for the Season 2 debut, the drama saw a 30% ratings drop in Week 2. And despite the free publicity from last month’s barely-watched Emmys, the drama saw a ratings drop (from 1.9 million to 1.6 million) the following week.

MONDAY (9/15)
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX, 8pm): “John’s schoolwork suffers, but his social circle widens when he makes a new friend.” Uhh, what exactly does he need to learn? He already knows that he’s in charge of saving the world.
- Prison Break (FOX, 9pm): “Michael and Linc happen upon T-Bag by chance.” Seriously, by chance? That’s like saying I just stopped watching this show…by chance.
- I Want to Work for Diddy (VH1, 9pm): “The teams must each throw a party that meets the high standards of a Diddy event, attending to such details as theme, decor, signature cocktails and guest list.” How would they know how to throw a Diddy event if they’ve never been invited to a Diddy event?
- Luke’s Parental Advisory (VH1, 10:30pm): “Luke tells Lacresha and Luther Jr. that they have a 2-year-old half brother. Later, he tries to bond with the child during a weekend visit.” What would we do without television cameras to record special family moments like these?

Lindsay Lohan: No Emmy for Guest Star
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Award Shows, Gossip,
Tabloid-seller Lindsay Lohan will not be submitting herself for an Emmy nomination this year, though her guest starring role on Ugly Betty was well-received by critics and fans.
Lohan appeared in the show’s season finale and is slated to guest star in five episodes next season. “We felt that the appearance wasn’t enough, and look forward to the next five episodes,” Lohan’s publicist offered these words to the press. As Lohan is scheduled to star in additional episodes, it seems likely she’ll pitch her hat into the ring for next year’s Emmy race.

No Emmy for Katherine Heigl
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Grey’s Anatomy, Gossip,
Katherine Heigl, who won an Emmy last year for her work on Grey’s Anatomy, isn’t even in this year’s race. So…how did this happen?
Heigl wasn’t snubbed - she left herself out of the race on purpose. “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and, in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name,” Katherine Heigl explained to the press, saying she didn’t want to “take away an opportunity from an actress who was given the materials.”
Look out, writers - Heigl’s got claws, and she’s not afraid to use them.
