Ugly Betty, America Ferrera

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (4/21)
  • Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm):  New episode.  “A dethroned Blair musters up the strength to head back to school, and Jenny tries to keep up with the financial demands of the in-crowd.”  Mondays are always better when other people are miserable.
  • Deal or No Deal (NBC, 8pm):  George Bush provides support to a war vet going for the million.  After three tours in Iraq, the President figured it was the least he could do.
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30):  If you can’t handle the thought of humming a tune about sandcastles over and over again, this might not be the episode for you.
  • The Bachelor: London (ABC, 10pm):  “Matt accompanies Amanda, Chelsea, Noelle and Shayne to their hometowns.”  Being allowed to live in the U.S. takes more than just a sham marriage.  It means faking it with her family too.

Casting Change for Law & Order: SVU

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC, Gossip, News,

Diane Neal, SVUTwo months ago, we told you that Jesse L. Martin would be leaving his role on Law & Order after nine years on the show.  Now it looks like Dick Wolf will be busy with another exit from his L&O family.

TV Guide is reporting that Diane Neal, ‘s Casey Novak, will be departing as well.  Neal took over in 2003 when the drama’s last ADA was supposedly killed.  (It was later revealed that Alex Cabot was actually placed in the Witness Protection Program.)

Although it’s unclear if Neal, too, will go down in a blaze of glory, she is expected to be around for this season’s finale.  Casting for her replacement has already begun.

Jesse L. Martin Turns In His Law & Order Badge

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC, News,

Jesse L. MartinAfter 18 years on air, NBC’s franchise has grown accustom to casting changes.  Now it appears the flagship series - and the viewers - will have to adjust to one more by season’s end.

, who plays Detective Ed Green, will reportedly be saying goodbye to the Dick Wolf family soon.  The actor was originally paired with the great Jerry Orbach when he joined the cast back in 1999.  In his nine seasons on the show, he has also been assigned to Dennis Farina and recent addition Jeremy Sisto.  (I wonder if Sisto should feel slighted by his new partner’s early exit.)

, who most recently honed his officer chops on the already-forgotten K-Ville, is in line to fill Martin’s shoes.  Although it’s not clear how Det. Green will vacate his position (Will he be killed?  Will he also go into the Witness Protection Program?), his departure will happen before the season’s finale.  That’s around the same time Anderson is expected to make his entrance.

Martin is next scheduled to portray singer Marvin Gaye in Sexual Healing.  That film is currently in pre-production.
