Dancing With the Stars: Cheryl Burke’s New Romance

Cheryl BurkeCheryl Burke, who is a two-time winner on the hit Dancing With the Stars, has found a romantic partner in Matthew Lawrence. Lawrence is the brother of Joey Lawrence, who appeared on the third season of the dance competition. People magazine is reporting the love connection, with a pal of Burke’s saying, “They are definitely together. Cheryl is very happy.” The super talented 22-year-old and Lawrence were together at the Dancing With the Stars wrap party on Monday night, dancing in the VIP area. An insider also reported that she had a birthday cake for Matt, who turned 27 on February 11th, delivered to her suite at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, where the wrap party was held. Lawrence’s rep had no comment on the pairing—hey, wouldn’t it be cute if he showed up on an upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars? And when did this kid turn 27? Man, I feel old.

Emmitt Smith Wins Dancing with the Stars

Emmitt SmithIt’s official—after weeks of celebrities dancing, the winner has finally been crowned on Dancing with the Stars. That’s right, NFL’s all-time leading rusher took home the ugly disco ball trophy, beating favorite Mario Lopez. It’s been disputed that Lopez did a consistently better job on the show each week, with many speculating that Smith won due to his popularity. Together with his partner Cheryl Burke, the two danced their way to the top. Incidentally, Burke also won last year when paired with Drew Lachey. Said Smith of the win, “It is awesome! It is awesome! We came a long way, we really have.”

The nine discarded competitors also joined the finale to show their stuff—Joey Lawrence, Monique Coleman, Vivica A. Fox, Harry Hamlin, Sara Evans, Willa Ford, Jerry Springer, Tucker Carlson and Shanna Moakler. And so it goes, another season of the super successful celeb dance competition (who woulda thunk it?). Rumors are that the next installment of Dancing with the Stars could air as soon as March.

Dancing With the Stars’ Favorite to Win

Mario LopezInternet odds-makers have pegged Mario Lopez (Saved by the Bell) to be this season’s Dancing with the Stars winner. Online bookie PinnacleSports.com has Lopez favored, with his odds of winning at 3-to-1. His professional partner is Karina Smirnoff, a newcomer to the series this year. With his background as a drummer and dancer on 1980s Kids Incorporated (remember that show?), maybe he will lead the pack.

Competition is sure to be tough—when Dancing with the Stars premieres Tuesday night, look for such adept hoofers as NFL’s Emmitt Smith, Tucker Carlson from MSNBC, and talk-show host Jerry Springer. OK, they don’t exactly scream dance talent, but the other contestants are Vivica A. Fox (odds of winning are 4-to-1), Monique Coleman (of High School Musical) at 9-to-2 odds, Joey Lawrence (6-to-1 odds), and Harry Hamlin with 13-to-2 odds. Shanna Moakler, Willa Ford and Sara Evans are also participating in the dancefest. Springer is the longshot, with odds at 49-to-1.
