Bright and early this morning, Kristin Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris announced the nominations for the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards.
This year, we saw many first-timers named, a long list of cable acknowledgements (for pay and basic channels) and several 6-way races.
Topping the noms for drama programs was newcomer Mad Men; NBC’s 30 Rock lead all comedy programs. In total, HBO was the most-nominated network while ABC came in second.
This year’s ceremony will be held on Sept. 21 on ABC.

So who cares if no one will be in attendance, the Golden Globe nominations must go on! (If the ceremony continues on as planned, it will air Sunday, January 13th on NBC.)
Here are the most notable omissions/additions in this year’s list of television honorees:
- Damages and Longford led the pack with 4 nominations each.
- James Gandolfini and The Sopranos were both left out of the races (though Edie Falco did get a nod).
- Three of the nominees for best TV Comedy (Entourage, Extras, Californation) came from pay-cable networks.
- Past faves (Desperates Housewives, Heroes, Ugly Betty) were nowhere to be found. (Though America Ferrera did earn a nod for her individual achievement.)
- HBO led the networks with 18 nominations; ABC was second with 11.

Molly Shannon in Upcoming ‘Pushing Daisies’
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Saturday Night Live,
How great is Pushing Daisies... really? While I’ve read plenty of conflicting reviews of the new series, it’s grabbed my attention and I can’t get enough. First off, it’s visually stunning, second the storyline is fun… and last, the cast. Wow. Lee Pace and Anna Friel (Ned and Chuck) are absolutely adorable. And Kristin Chenoweth is just as cute as a button—beyond belief cute. So, where was I? Oh yes, the equally adorable and cute Molly Shannon will be joining the show in a guest role beginning later this month or in early December. I think Shannon will be a great addition, given her comedy chops. She’ll appear for three episodes, playing Dilly Balsam, a rival of Ned’s who coincidentally opens her sweets shop across the street from the Pie Hole (incidentally, the best pie shop name ever). Mike White, who wrote and directed Year of the Dog (which Shannon starred in), will also join Daisies, playing Dilly’s brother Billy. Really, how cute is that? You can also catch Molly Shannon in an upcoming Lifetime movie, More of Me. The addition of Ms. Sally O’Malley… er,... Molly Shannon, is just one more great reason to catch Pushing Daisies.

My Nagging Question About ‘Pushing Daisies’
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, ABC,
While I truly love Pushing Daisies, there’s been one issue plaguing me since last week’s premiere episode. So if there is anyone out there who can answer this question, please let me know. Otherwise, just let me use this as an opportunity to vent.
Question:
Young Ned learned that he could revive dead things when his dog died early in the episode….but he didn’t know that a second touch would make things die again until later. Are we to assume he never touched his dog before that discovery? (And I double-checked. He was wearing a different shirt when his mom died, so that must have been another day).
Okay—maybe that really wasn’t a question; it was probably like a gripe. Nevertheless, I’m willing to overlook that one minor detail. The rest of the show was absolutely perfect.
ABC to Welcome 11 New Shows
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, News,
ABC will continue to work toward ratings supremacy this coming fall with no less than eleven brand-new shows. Will any one of them match the Desperate Housewives phenomenon? ABC certainly hopes so. The eleven new shows will bring some once-familiar faces back to the small screen, including Christina Applegate (of Jessie and Married With Children fame) and Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels movie star who got her start on Ally McBeal). But how many of these newcomers will make it to a second season on ABC? That probably all depends on how popular the existing ABC ratings-grabbers stay when faced with new network competition. How do these new fall shows stack up?
