Drew Carey and Bob Barker on The Price Is RightUpdate: Bob Barker has now his earlier statements. He spoke to Entertainment Weekly hours after his comments, saying that Drew Carey has been “charming and complimentary, and he had me on [The Price is Right] to plug my book…to think that I would say anything derogatory about him is idiocy.”

“He does the show differently than I did,” Bob Barker said of his Price Is Right replacement Drew Carey. Barker was cornered by paparazzi recently, taking the time to about his old hosting gig and his one-time on-screen cameo with Adam Sandler.

“I tried to make the show really exciting…and [Drew Carey] doesn’t do that. He just plays the games,” Barker said. But at least he still uses the skinny microphone, right?

is now retired from the hosting biz, and spends much of his time golfing - but he’s still got it. When asked about his appearance in the Adam Sandler flick Happy Gilmore, Bob Barker smiled. “Young men love that movie…and they’re always asking me…could I beat up Adam Sandler?” He laughed. “Adam Sandler couldn’t even beat up Regis Philbin!”

Now, there’s a throwdown we’d like to see.

Wednesday Ratings: SYTYCD Remains Strong

Wednesday night’s ratings landscape showed very little change this week. The three main reality programs (Baby Borrowers, Celebrity Circus and So You Think You Can Dance) were all steady with their previous numbers. This gave FOX another win in both categories.

Wednesday Ratings: Celebrity Circus Lacks Dazzle

Even though it fared better than the quickly-cancelled Secret Talents of the Stars, Celebrity Circus didn’t do anything to brag about. NBC’s latest reality offering was outdone by a repeat during its hour. By night’s end, FOX was the winner in both the viewers and the demos.

This Week on TV (4/28-5/4)

House, Hugh Laurie

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (4/28)
  • Deal or No Deal (NBC, 8pm):  “Darth Vader subs for The Banker in a -themed episode that also features Carrie Fisher, R2-D2 and Chewbacca, who cheer on contesants in a winner-take-all match.”  As if I needed a reason to avoid this program altogether.
  • House (FOX, 9pm):  New episode.  “House suspects that an ER patient with a sunny disposition has a bigger problem than was initially diagnosed.  The reason:  He thinks the patient is too nice.”  I have to admit it—cheery people are a freak of nature.
  • Medium (NBC, 10pm):  “Joe surprises Allison by buying her a used car, but Allison’s subsequent visions warn of the vehicle’s unsavory past.”  Is it a 1958 Plymouth Fury that responds to the name ‘Christine’?
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “A clue in a case involving the discovery of a body point the CSIs to a robbery that’s being planned on a target who holds a disturbing secret.”  Murders have never been linked to anti-climatic or lame secrets.

Friday Ratings: Drew Carey Outmuscles Dennis Miller

Although Amne$ia debuted with good numbers last week, it didn’t have Drew Carey to contend with then.  When put up against The Price is Right, the new program looked pale in comparison.
