VIDEO: What The Wire Would Look Like as a Musical
As if one's love for The Wire couldn't be any greater, Funny or Die -- a comedy site founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay -- went and created this.
Sonja Sohn, Andre Royo, Larry Gillard Jr., Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, and Michael Kenneth Williams reprise their roles from the critically-acclaimed HBO series in this hilarious trailer for the imaginary musical. The trailer recreates a few of the show's most famous scenes -- with a lot more singing, dancing, and smiling.
I dare you not to get "Chess is a Metaphor for Drugs" stuck in your head this week.

What are President Obama’s Favorite Shows?

Could President Obama’s secret love of HBO have anything to do with the channel’s inaugural coverage?
Thanks to his highly-publicized selections before the NCAA tournament, the country already knows that our POTUS likes to watch a little basketball. But what other programs does he like to follow when he has some free time?
Although he referenced Simon Cowell during his recent appearance on Jay Leno, American Idol apparently doesn’t rank at the top of Obama’s must watch list. According to Politico, the President has a preference for two shows coincidentally on the same pay channel.
“We would talk about Entourage all the time,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs revealed. “I remember one time I e-mailed him because [a] call was scheduled for the last 15 minutes of Entourage and I said, ‘Just be late and we can just watch Entourage and still get on and do the call,’” Gibbs added. (On a side note: Jeremy Piven’s character is based on Ari Emanuel, the Chief of Staff’s real-life brother.)

Even though we’re accustomed to perusing the American Film Institute‘s lists of ranked movies, the organization also acknowledges excellence in television.
For their 2008 AFI Awards, a 13-member panel chose ten programs for their annual honors. Of the names selected, only Mad Men makes a return from the 2007 list. (Those not included in this round include Ugly Betty, 30 Rock, Dexter and Everybody Hates Chris.) Meanwhile, the only comedy represented this year is NBC’s The Office.

‘Lost’ Adds Five New Characters
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Lost,
The last time the producers of Lost tried to introduce two new characters (remember Nikki and Paolo?), audiences hated them so much they were promptly killed off. So with hesitance I say that five new players are being brought on this upcoming season. Of course, we don’t necessarily know their roles or how long they will stay. Maybe they will pull a Bai Ling and exit quickly.
Entertainment Weekly exclusively reports that these actors include Jeff Fahey (Lawnmower Man, Grindhouse), Jeremy Davies (a.k.a the skinny guy in Saving Private Ryan), Lance Reddick (The Wire), Ken Leung (X-Men: The Last Stand) and Rebecca Mader (Justice). The show’s still got two more years to go—so I guess someone’s gonna to have to die. Any bets as to which one in this bunch will be the first? I’m gonna go for the skinny guy (Davies).
Reminder, Lost does not start until mid-season….so don’t be waiting for it in September.
