This Week on TV (5/18-5/24)

So You Think You Can Dance

(You can view TV Envy’s Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 5/18)

  • 24 (FOX, 8pm):  Two-hour finale. “Jack reaches an emotional breaking point.” I would advise everyone to stay out of head-butting range from Bauer.
  • The Bachelorette (ABC, 9pm):  Season premiere. “Jillian Harris, the 29-year-old Canadian who was a runner-up for the heart of 2009 Bachelor Jason Mesnick, gets a new perspective on the rose ceremony.” She plans on being much more selective about those she jumps into hot tubs with hands stems to.
  • Table for 12 (TLC, 9pm):  “The Hayes family embarks on a 420-mile road trip to Canada.” The free health care will make up for the cost in gas.
  • Gotti’s Way 2 (VH1, 10:30pm):  “While in therapy, Debbie realizes a need for boundaries on her relationship with Irv.” The audience at home will still be allowed full access though.

Thursday Ratings: Evening Not So Grey for ABC

Things may have looked grim for the characters of Grey’s Anatomy, but the show looked alive and well last night. The program - Thursday’s top performer - had its best demo performance in 3 months and its largest audience since last fall’s premiere. The weeper gave ABC wins in both the viewers and the 18-49ers yesterday.

ABC/Disney Shows Coming to Hulu

Hulu logo

Catching up on missed ABC programs will soon become that much easier.

Thanks to a deal that is still being finalized, programs ranging from to General Hospital will eventually be made available on Hulu. ABC, owned by Disney, will now become the third major network (alongside NBC and FOX) to allow ad-supported webstreaming of their shows via the site.

Thursday Ratings: Criminal Evening for CBS

One week after facing a new Private Practice, Southland was put to another test. A repeat of Criminal Minds not only did better than the now-moved Harper’s Island, it attracted the most viewers in the 10:00 hour.

Better Off Ted

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 4/27)

  • Little People, Big World (TLC, 8pm):  “Matt has high expectations for the upcoming pumpkin season, but he starts to worry when opening day fails to draw large crowds.” His pessimism grows when he sees Charlie Brown sitting alone in the patch.
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30pm):  “Ted starts texting a woman () he recently met, breaking one of Barney and Marshall’s relationship rules.” His “Bro” status is then revoked when he friends her on Facebook.
  • Table for 12 (TLC, 9pm):  “Eric and Betty Hayes share their step-by-step guide to raising a large family.” The “creating” section of that guide will be left out.
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “A sexy bachelorette on a popular TV dating series is discovered murdered in a limousine just as the bachelor on the show is going to propose to her.” The prerecorded event was later billed as a finale “shocker.”

Ugly Betty Replaces Motherhood, Samantha Early

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, ABC

Ugly Betty

UPDATE: Samantha Who? and In the Motherhood are officially over for the season. A Grey’s repeat will fill the 8:00 time slot this week.

Weeks after being displaced from its time slot, Ugly Betty is coming back to take its place. Early.

Hello, May sweeps!

ABC has just announced that the series will pick up where it left off beginning April 30. That’s one week before it was previously slated to return. It’s also the date Samantha Who? and had been scheduled to air their finales.

So what does this mean for the pair of comedies? Maybe the network can find some more space on its Saturday night calendar?

Thursday Ratings: Wins for Both CBS, ABC

College sports coverage proved to be both a winner and loser for CBS last night. Although the NCAA tournament didn’t earn the network another double win last night, the court action did score a tie in the demos with ABC. (The Alphabet was the sole winner with the viewers.)

Private Practice's Taye Diggs8pm

  • (10.2 million, 3.0/9 in 18-49) raised 600,000.
  • CBS’ basketball coverage (3.5/10) scored 9.4 million.
  • (7.6 million, 2.1/6) picked up 400,000.
  • (6.4 million, 2.4/8) improved by 2 million; a repeat of (4.6 million, 2.0/6) did better than the Kath finale.
  • (3.3 million. 1.4/4) lost 400,000.
