Sneak Peek: Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip, Video
Top Chef isn’t the only reality show spinning off into specific genres.
Starting next month, Dr. Drew Pinsky will be lending a sympathetic ear to a new round of celebs in his latest VH1 series. For two seasons, the board certified addiction specialist worked with drug and alcohol addicts on Celebrity Rehab. He then followed their progress on a season of Sober House. Now he’s tackling “a different type of addiction…one that lies in a deeper shroud of shame.”
On Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew, eight patients - ranging from athletes to porn stars - will enter the Pasadena Recovery Center and, in some cases, “unearth the pain” of previous childhood traumas. In Amber Smith‘s case, sexual addiction didn’t even rear its ugly head until the Celeb Rehab vet had moved past other urges.

VIDEO: Paula Abdul Impersonates Ellen DeGeneres
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Specials, Cable, Video
Paula Abdul may have moved on from American Idol, but will she ever stop talking about?
On yesterday’s VH1 Divas special, the former judge used her hosting position to reference her old job not once…but twice. In the clip above, the choreographer hit the stage while doing her best Ellen DeGeneres impersonation. (Although the dancing was admittedly funny, Abdul should have stopped right before making the Simon Cowell comment.)
After the jump, you can also see Paula do her best impersonation of someone who lip synchs and dances at the same time. (Note: If you’re pretending to sing, don’t tilt the microphone away from you.) If you make it to the “Opposites Attract” section, you’ll catch an additional nod to Cowell there.

But now, she’ll be leading the cast all on her own. The Price of Beauty will give us a traveling Simpson, who tours the globe to chat with regular women as well as more well-known female personalities who belong to the beauty industry. Tom Sizemore Joins Ex Heidi Fleiss on Celebrity Rehab 3
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip

And you thought the tension between Jeff Conaway and his girlfriend was awkward to watch…
For Season 3 of Celebrity Rehab, Dr. Drew Pinsky and producers have upped the dramatic ante. Actor Tom Sizemore has just been included in the final lineup for the VH1 reality series. This means he will be seeking treatment at the same time as Heidi Fleiss.
Despite an impressive body of work, Sizemore’s personal life has been checkered with a host of legal issues. In addition to numerous troubles with drugs, the Saving Private Ryan star was also convicted in 2003 of assaulting and harassing his then-girlfriend. That woman was Fleiss, the former Hollywood madam. According to TMZ, Tom checked himself into The Pasadena Recovery Center last Friday, one day after being arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Dr. Drew Extends Help to Sex Addicts
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable

Soon more addicts will reap the benefits of Drew Pinsky’s non-judgmental approach.
In addition to bringing back Celebrity Rehab for a third season, VH1 has just greenlighted the production of another addiction-related show. Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew will now be the second spinoff of the original treatment program. (Sober House being the first.)
Sex, like its two other predecessors, will be centered around a group of celebrity patients. (No word if David Duchovny might be one of them.) Over the eight-episode series, the producers hope to clear up any questions about the oft-misunderstood compulsion. The addiction, which touches roughly 6% of all Americans, is not normally enjoyed by those afflicted by it. It can also lead to devastating results.
Sex Rehab is set to debut sometime this fall.

Idol’s Fantasia Barrino Gets Reality Show
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, American Idol, Gossip
Life is not a fairy tale for Fantasia Barrino. It’s a reality show.
Five years after being crowned the winner of American Idol, the R&B performer is preparing to do it all again. The Season 3 contestant will soon have cameras following her every move for a new series on VH1.
Fantasia’s life since her run on Idol has experienced some highs and lows. In addition to creating a book and television movie about her life, the singer has racked up nine Grammy nominations and starred in the Broadway production of The Color Purple. The 24-year-old also came very close to losing her home, though a last-minute deal helped her save it.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the cable channel apparently believes Barrino’s story is still worth telling. “Her challenges from fame and her unwillingness to fail have combined to create a larger-than-life talent who appeals to music lovers around the world. So many people wanted to work with her on this, but Fantasia is now part of the VH1 family, and we’re so happy to have her,” the executive vice president of original programming said.
The program, which will document her life as an artist and single mother, is slated to premiere in early 2010.
