Knight Riders’ KITT Replaced

Val KilmerA TV project months in the making has had a major casting change in the 11th hour.

, the voice of NBC’s new KITT mobile, has had to sever ties from the Knight Rider movie.  It seems his vocal cords actually belong elsewhere.

The actor (Blades of Glory) has been doing General Motors voice-over work for some time now.  Unfortunately, those who have seen trailers for the ‘80s update know the automobile featured belongs to Ford.  GM, finally realizing there may be a conflict of interest, asked the two-timing Arnett to step aside.

Fortunately for the network, another actor has been found to fill the void.  will now be the one heard in the Feb. 17th special.  Assuming the movie serves as a new series’ pilot, it’s unclear whether Kilmer would continue on with the role.

As for Arnett, let’s just hope that Arrested Development film happens after all.

The ‘Knight Rider’ Teaser

So here it is, the teaser for the Knight Rider movie coming to next month.  I must say the network played it very smart.  The incredibly short clip will either whet your appetite or make you wonder what crappy scenes were left out.

The “two-hour event” - which may also a serve as the pilot for a new fall series - stars as Michael Knight’s son and (Arrested Development) as the voice of KITT.  It will also include a appearance (woo hoo!).  Be listening for the roar of the new Ford Mustang on Feb. 17th.

This Week on TV (10/8-10/14)

Men in Trees

MONDAY (10/8)

  • The View (ABC, syndicated):  Meredith Viera returns to her old-stomping grounds as a guest.  I’m sure she prefers it that way.
  • Total Request Live (MTV, 3:30pm):  Watch the ‘official’ debut of Britney’s new video, or just watch it now.
  • Big Bang Theory (CBS, 8:30pm):  The reunion of Johnny Galecki and Sara Gilbert happens tonight.
  • I Love New York 2 (VH1, 9pm):  Season premiere.  I’m sorry—what exactly do the winners ‘win’ on this show again?

Erika Christensen, David Cross Join ‘Hell’

David CrossAt first glance, I wasn’t too excited about CBS’ new comedy I’m in Hell. Sure, Jason Biggs (of American Pie fame) stars as a Wall Street dude who dies and has to live out Hell on Earth… but it really didn’t grab me. The latest news of Erika Christensen and David Cross joining the series may make it worth a look, however. OK, so I’m really just talking about David Cross here. Since Arrested Development left, I’ve been missing the old AD gang and love to see them pop up here and there (case in point, a guest appearance by Will Arnett on tonight’s 30 Rock). I’m a huge fan of Cross’ from his quirky stand-up and of course, Mr. Show with Bob and David, which was pure genius. So, any David Cross is worth a look I figure, especially when he takes on the role as the devil in I’m in Hell.
