Dynasty TV Series Heading to Theaters
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, ABC, News,
ABC may be working to bring back Charlie's Angels to the small screen, but another show from that network is now headng to the big screen.
Dynasty, the hit 80's TV show which starred Joan Collins, John Forsythe and Linda Evans, is being developed into a motion picture. Show creators Richard and Esther Shapiro and working on the script.
"The time is right. Nostalgia has always been big, but we want to take it a step further," Esther teased. "We want to go back to the beginning with these characters and use the film to trace their roots. We're taking Blake Carrington (John) back to his young manhood and when he met Alexis (Joan), and setting the movie in the Mad Men era of the 1960s. It will give us the opportunity to start fresh, without the constraints that television placed on our characters in the series."

ABC Working on Two New Musical Shows
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, ABC, Video,
ABC is taking a page out of FOX’s programming book by bringing viewers two new musically-themed shows next fall.
The first focuses on a mother-daughter duo, and will star Idina Menzel. The Broadway actress made a huge splash on Glee last year, and ABC is hoping she’ll do the same for them. Watch her performing "Defying Gravity" in the video above.
The second series is a female-driven sitcom, and there’s no word on casting just yet.

Tim Allen: Ready to Man Up for ABC
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, ABC, News, Video,
Tim Allen will return to TV soon (can we get a grunt on that one?), and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
Allen will return to ABC (where his successful series Home Improvement ran for eight seasons) for the new sitcom Man Up.
The show is described as a man “fighting for his manhood in a world of women.” That’s not a lot of information, but already Tim Allen seems perfect for the role.
The series will mark the actor’s first serialized TV role since Home Improvement went off the air in 1999. Thank goodness he was finally let out of the Disney vault so he can go back to doing what he does best.

Barbara Billingsley, Famous TV Mom, Dies
Barbara Billingsley, one of TV's legends, has died. Billingsley was better known to TV audiences as June Cleaver, the mom on Leave it to Beaver. That classic TV sitcom ran on CBS in 1957, then on ABC until 1963.
“People still talk about it and write letters, telling how much they watch it today with their children and grandchildren,” said Billingsley several years after the show had been canceled. Though it was still very popular in 1963, the show called it quits after the sixth season because the two youngest stars, Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow, wanted to move on. “We knew we were making a good show, because it was so well-written,” Billingsley stated in the same interview.

ABC Cancels My Generation
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cancellations,
It only took two episodes to bring down FOX’s Lone Star. It took that same number to silence ABC’s My Generation as well.
After a double dose of disappointing numbers, the network made a choice to stop the bleeding. The show, which debuted to 5.2 million (1.6/5 in 18-49) in Week 1, fell even further in Week 2 (3.9 million, 1.1/3).
Although Generation has been pulled immediately from the schedule, there are chances the four remaining episodes could air sometime in the future and/or online.
It’s not known yet what will fill the void at 8:00 on Thursdays.

-Anderson Cooper, who has filled in for Regis Philbin many times, is planning to launch his own daytime talk show in Fall 2011. The news anchor will also continue his evening duties with CNN.

Brad Womack to Play The Bachelor Once Again
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Gossip,
He may have broken everyone’s hearts on the 11th season of The Bachelor, but that doesn’t mean Brad Womack is a bad guy … right? ABC hopes so hopes not, which is why they have re-booked the mustachioed man for the 15th installment of the reality series.
Womack, who famously left DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft roseless back in 2007, apparently thinks love can be found the reality-stunt way. “I don’t care if people call me an idiot or don’t believe those words coming out of my mouth,” Brad tells Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday’s broadcast of her show.
“I truly believe that it can work. So here are 25 to 30 women that I never, ever would meet in regular life, and I’m clearly doing something wrong. I’m still single. So why not? I really do believe that this can work,” he adds.

Is Edyta Sliwinska Leaving Dancing with the Stars?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars, Gossip,
Was I the only person who didn’t get the memo about quitting?
According to TMZ, Bethenny Frankel isn’t the only person planning to leave a hit reality series. Dancing with the Stars’ Edyta Sliwinska is also calling it a day.
Although the sexy ballroom dancer has been with the program since Day 1 (in 2005), the professional known for very little clothing isn’t pleased with the direction her future is going.
“The producers’ vision of what they wanted my career to be did not meet my expectations. They wanted my career to be the show. I can’t be a dancer my whole life,” she explained. (Okay—so why did she agree to do ten seasons of the show?)
Edyta also says she’s unhappy about how Alec Mazo, her husband and sometimes competitor, is being treated. “I want to work more with my husband and [the producers] didn’t make him a big part of the show or very involved,” she stated.
