Preview of True Blood: HBO’s New Vampire Series
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, Cable, HBO, Video

In the past year, we’ve seen the fan hysteria behind Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight and the cancellation of the loved-but-not-watched series Moonlight. Now, we’ll get to see if another vampire-related project will be as successful as the former or as neglected as the latter.
Later this week, HBO will introduce the latest entry in the blood-sucking genre. In True Blood, the newest creation from writer/producer/director Alan Ball (Six Feet Under), vampires are able to co-exist with humans. A synthetic supply of the red stuff allows them to feed without necessarily needing to hunt.
After the jump, you can see the moment when Sookie Stackhouse (Oscar-winner Anna Paquin) meets 173-year-old Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) for the very first time.

Small Screen Adaptations: Witches of Eastwick, Maid in Manhattan
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, News

Just when I thought ABC was making huge strides with programs like Pushing Daisies, the network decides to take a few creative steps back.
In the past week, it’s been announced that two motion pictures may be adapted for the small screen.
On Monday, Variety reported that John Updike’s novel about three witches (and a devilish man) may be getting new life. The Witches of Eastwick - which later became a 1987 film starring Jack Nicholson, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer and Cher - is now being redeveloped into a television pilot.

Lisa Bonet Joins Life on Mars Cast
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, News
While it’s still possible to catch a glimpse of Lisa Bonet on a daily rerun of The Cosby Show, it’s surprisingly been a whopping 17 years since the actress was last on the show. In that time, Lisa’s daughter, Zoe Kravitz, has even starred in several motion pictures (The Brave One, No Reservations). But now it’s time for mom to go back to work.
In ABC’s Life on Mars, Lisa Bonet will play Maya Daniels, the present-day love interest of the program’s lead character. The show, an adaptation of a British series by the same name, centers around Sam Tyler (Jason O’Mara), a cop who mysteriously travels back in time to the 1970’s.
Other stars already lined up for the drama include Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs), Gretchen Mol (Rounders), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) and Jonathan Murphy (October Road).
Life on Mars premieres October 9th right after Grey’s Anatomy.

Kim Cattrall Gets Own HBO Series
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Cable, HBO, News
It seems eager fans were not the only ones who benefited from this weekend’s release of Sex and the City. One of the movie’s stars also received a nice bonus for it too.
As part of her agreement deal with HBO, Kim Cattrall will soon be getting her own series on the pay channel. Interestingly enough, her project comes with two themes her followers are quite familiar with: New York and sex.
In Sensitive Skin, Kim will play a wife and mother who tries to rediscover her sexuality and her place in the world. The show, which is an adaptation of a British series by the same name, will also have Cattrall on board as an executive producer.
This isn’t the first time the actress has done a side project for HBO. In 2005, she hosted a documentary called Kim Cattrall: Sexual Intelligence. I guess you gotta stick to what you know - right?

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Kids, NBC, News
As a lifelong watcher of the show, I have to say there is something so wrong, yet so right, about this news.
Coming to Minneapolis later this summer is a stage version of Little House and the Prairie. In addition the Ingalls family, the musical, based off the the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, will feature Almanzo Wilder and love-to-hate her Nellie Olesen. The production will also include an exciting casting choice: Melissa Gilbert.
Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls during the television series’ nine years, will challenge the audience by taking on an entirely different role. The 44-year-old actress will tightening up her bun to the play the family’s matriarch.

If you are looking for an alternative to the Grammy Awards tonight (live at 8 p.m. ET on CBS) here is one, no actually here is the absolute opposite of the Grammy Awards: Masterpiece Theater.
Okay before you frantically click to close this story consider this: one of the best adaptations of a Jane Austen book begins tonight on the venerable PBS series.
BBC’s 1995 version of Austen’s Pride and Prejudice begins it’s three part run tonight on PBS at 9 p.m. as part of Masterpiece Theater’s The Complete Jane Austen series.
The series has already presented admirable new versions of Persuasion, Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey as well as Miss Austen Regrets, a film biography that tells the story of Jane Austen’s lost loves and why she herself, never married. Miss Austen Regrets stars Olivia Williams of The Sixth Sense (1999) and Rushmore (1998) fame. This Week on TV (12/3-12/9)
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Animation, Comedy, Drama, Food & Home, Kids, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, Specials, ABC, Bravo, Cable, CBS, FX, FOX, NBC, The CW, ER, Heroes, My Name Is Earl, Nip/Tuck, Top Chef

MONDAY (12/3)
- The Closer (TNT, 8pm): The special two-hour holiday episode brings Brenda’s parents into the investigative fold. Nothing says Christmas like talking blood with your blood.
- Heroes (NBC, 9pm): (NOTE: This is the last new episode left.) ‘Peter squares off against former friends thanks to Adam’s confusing story about the Shanti virus.’ He shouldn’t fault Adam; the confusing storyline is to blame.
- K-Ville (FOX, 9pm): ‘Boulet and Cobb investigate an insurance adjuster’s murder.’ As if there weren’t enough people in New Orleans with a motive.
- Life (NBC, 10pm): (First half of the two-parter; 2nd half airs Wednesday). ‘Evidence points to Reese’s father in the murders that sent Crews to prison.’ I’m guessing this won’t be resolved anytime soon…otherwise, we wouldn’t have a show.

‘Tin Man’: SciFi Channel Meets ‘Wizard of Oz’
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Mini Series, Sci-Fi/Horror, Cable
I was probably five years old the first time I watched The Wizard of Oz, under the assurances from my grandmother that I was sure to love the movie. Unfortunately, I was so completely terrified by the Wicked Witch of the West that I didn’t make it to the end of the yellow brick road until I was closer to the age of ten. But in the end, she was right. Besides achieving acclaim and immortality as one of the greatest American film classics of all time, The Wizard of Oz has also been heralded as the only true fairy tale to come from the U.S. From the moment Judy Garland-as-Dorothy Gale opens that black-and-white door to reveal a world filled with color, there is no question that viewers are about to be treated to a fantastical delight. That element of fantasy is exactly what the SciFi Channel hopes to capture with Tin Man.
Zooey Deschanel (whose little sister is the star of FOX’s Bones) will play a more rebellious, modern-day Dorothy, this time with a motorcycle and a new moniker (DG). Like the famed movie itself, the mini-series is based on the L. Frank Baum novel. Basically, it’s a tale about growing up…and staying young at heart. The SciFi version, in keeping with the network, will be darker, more intense, and contain an element of the extraordinary.

Small Screen ‘Star Wars’
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Sci-Fi/Horror, Gossip, Rumors
Star Wars creator George Lucas is planning a live-action TV series spinoff of the well-loved sci-fi film franchise. Although he’s just started working on the series, Lucas is firm that it will not contain any Skywalkers. In fact, no major characters from the film will appear in the small screen version. Lucas (jokingly?) told reporters the series will be about the life of robots, though he won’t reveal any other details about the series. There is no network yet attached to the work.
Will the public love the small screen Star Wars as much as they love the movies? If the merchandising tells us nothing, it’s that people will buy anything with Star Wars printed on it.
