Idol’s Allison Iraheta Signed

Allison Iraheta

, the girl who rocked American Idol’s eighth season, has been signed by 19 Recordings. Her debut album is expected to be released sometime this fall.

“I think I’m still in shock that this is happening,” she said in a recent statement. “Getting to record my first album and this whole awesome experience is a dream come true!”

Iraheta finished in fourth place on the show, followed by Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen (in that order). Allen and Lambert have both also inked recording contracts, but as of right now there’s nothing new to report on Gokey’s musical career.

Anoop Desai on Life After Idol

Anoop Desai “I am definitely going to pursue a music career,” Anoop Desai announced at the press conference held after his ousting. “Singing is what I am the happiest doing. It’s what I do the best,” he added. Desai, 22, was attending post-graduate courses in North Carolina before his journey to Hollywood.

Now, he’s not going back. Desai has decided to forgo the rest of his classes to concentrate on his music, which he has some pretty clear ideas about already - “pop and R&B” will be featured on his first album.

In the meantime, Desai - along with the rest of the Top 10 - will be a part of the Idol summer tour.

American Idol: Why it’s No Good to Be Too Good

David ArchuletaIt’s an incredibly bold idea. Start a reality show on the premise that somewhere out there, amazing singers are lurking and just waiting for their chance. Then, go out and find these incredible singers and let American decide which one gets to experience fame. But scratch the surface of , and there’s much more involved than just singing.

The best don’t always win. It’s just that simple. I mean - c’mon - Taylor Hicks? Really, was he the best singer? And Chris Daughtry - if he can’t win the show, you might as well throw the radio out the window. got booted, then went on to sing her heart out in an Oscar-winning Dreamgirls performance. Last year’s winner Jordin Sparks had dismal first week record sales (the lowest in Idol history), though she beat out twenty-three other fantastic singers just to seal the deal. Listen, Clay Aiken didn’t even win his season - remember? The best don’t always win.

Are the New Kids Back on the Block?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Reality, Gossip, Rumors

New Kids on the Block - thenIf you had any proximity to any tween or teen girls in the 1980s and 1990s, you couldn’t escape the boy band that swept the nation into a craze:  . The baggy clothes. The dance moves. The poppy beats. The looks. Girls loved them, guys hummed along when no one was around to listen, and then…they disappeared. So stop holding your breath already - the New Kids (now all grown adults) might be making a comeback. I know, I didn’t believe it either. But it’s true…or, it could be.

The official Web site for the group is up and running again, touting an “announcement” and asking fans to wait for news. According to People magazine, the New Kids (Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre and ’s older brother Donnie) are reuniting. However, there’s nothing to indicate if or when they will be making new music or going out on tour. During their successful run as pop stars, the New Kids sold more than 70 million albums (that’s a lot). They even topped superstars like Madonna and Michael Jackson in 1990 as the highest-paid entertainers (Forbes).

When their popularity steadily declining as the 90s took shape, the New Kids (now shortening the group name to NKOTB) attempted a “comeback” of sorts in ‘94. But Face the Music (the album) didn’t sell all that well, concert tour dates were canceled, and the story ended.  That is, until the Web site came back up with vague promises and clips of the group way back then..

Whitney Houston Preparing for Comeback?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Reality, Gossip

Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown The divorce is final, Bobby Brown is out of the picture, and the stage is set for the one thing that everyone’s been wondering: is Whitney Houston going to make a comeback? Half-hearted attempts in the past have failed, but now the songstress has a whole new reason to reach for the limelight again - she definitely will no longer be a part of Being Bobby Brown – or, for that matter, any other reality programming. So, Whitney’s warming up her vocals and getting ready to do what she used to do best: just sing. Houston is currently in the recording studio preparing to launch her comeback album, which early reports say are very good. Ne-Yo, R & B producer, is currently working with Houston to create some new tracks for her comeback album. Ne-Yo’s other clients include American Idol Dreamgirl Jennifer Hudson, who is also releasing a new album, and Michael Jackson.
