American Idol Loser Turned Academy Award Winner

Academy AwardJennifer Hudson struggled to gain notice and popularity for the first several episodes of American Idol 3. Today, she is the new hot actress in Hollywood. How did she make this incredible transformation? The young star landed the role of Effie White in 2005 (beating out former Idol Fantasia Barrino) in the movie Dreamgirls, an adaptation of the Broadway play. Hudson’s big voice and on-screen energy helped her finally gain fan approval (for which she battled on AI) and nationwide recognition in the form of the Academy Awards. American Idol’s Jennifer Hudson Nominated for Oscar

Jennifer HudsonHow great is the news that former American Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson is nominated for an Oscar? What a sweet comeback she made after being ousted on Idol. It has been an amazing rise straight to the top for this talented woman. I thought she was robbed on Idol, but seems she made out pretty well after all. American Idol Winner’s Upcoming Movie

FantasiaAmerican Idol‘s third season winner, Fantasia Barrino, will bring her life story to a TV movie titled Fantasia: Life is Not a Fairy Tale. Fantasia has made it well known that her past was difficult, first in a book and now in a Lifetime movie to air on August 19th. In the movie, American Idol producers are shown urging her to withdraw from the competition because she was an unwed mother and high school dropout. Fox is not taking the accusation lightly, with Idol executive producer Ken Warwick telling the New York Post, “We knew she had a baby right from Day One, and she was always strongly tipped to win the competition because she was so good. I can absolutely refute that nothing was done, or even remotely suggested to her that she shouldn’t take part in the competition. It’s a complete fabrication.”

Fantasia will play herself in the movie, and hopes to inspire others to overcome the obstacles they face.
