Even though ended officially wrapped up four days ago, there are many fans still caught up in the show’s fever. Apparently this week’s constant coverage has not yet tired a good number of David worshippers.

As of right now, iTunes users have given winner David Cook four spots on the site’s Top 10. His performance of ‘The Time of My Life’ (from the finale) is currently perched at #1. Meanwhile, his recent covers of “Dream Big”, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and “The World I Know” are all taking space at the top of the pack.

The seventh season of culminated last night in a spectacular, two-hour grand finale event. The fans, the fanfare, the Davids - it was a truly great show.

The men of the hours, Davids Archuleta and Cook, appeared in white for the opening sequence. announced that the winner of the contest secured 56% of the vote. More than 96 million votes were logged, a record-breaking number, but of course voters had four hours after Tuesday’s performance (instead of the usual two) to make their wishes known.

American Idol: Season Seven Starting Without Sparks

American IdolThe scandal. The bad singing. The fierce competition. Last year’s had all the ingredients for high-ratings reality success, but will FOX be so lucky in Season Seven?

Sweet-faced, young Jordin Sparks was declared last year’s winner, but her new album has gained dismal sales. In fact, Sparks has released the lowest-selling Idol debut album in the entire history of the show. Have fans lost interest?

During a recent appearance on , Idol judge also had few positive comments about the upcoming season. In recent weeks, Jackson has been present at the much-hyped Idol auditions and has witnessed firsthand what sort of talent America might see next month. Apparently, Randy wasn’t “blown out the box” with this year’s crop of young talent.

American Idol Auditions Up and Running

American Idol judges’s seven-city auditions tour has begun, and thousands have already lined up to get fifteen seconds in front of Simon, Randy, and Paula. More than 12,000 turned out in San Diego, but the line outside the Texas Stadium this week stretched to 30 people wide. Among them was LaCondra Davies, whom faithful viewers may recognize from last season. Davies made it to Hollywood Week last year, but no further. This year, Davies says she knows the game. As temperatures climbed to 90 degrees in the Texas heat, ice packs were passed around to waiting contestants. It was in Dallas that Kelly Clarkson, the first Idol, was discovered – she’s from nearby Burleson. Has the winner of season seven already been selected to move on to Hollywood week? The next Idol auditions will be held in Omaha, Atlanta, Miami, Charleston, and Philadelphia, with Idol returning to the small screen in January 2008.
