Melrose Place: Murderer Revealed! (And Promptly Murdered)

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Video,

dished out helpings of murder, sex and a few unexpected plot twists last night. Sure, the episode had its faults…but most of them can be overlooked in light of all the interesting developments. Not to mention, viewers finally got what they’ve been waiting for: an out-and-out catfight that revealed Sydney’s true killer. Now that was fairly well scripted - though Michael’s wife was such a minor character, we probably should have been it coming.

That’s right - it was Brooke Burns who took down Laura Leighton (Sydney Andrews, who was murdered at the beginning of the pilot episode) after a vicious verbal fight that drove her over the edge. Finally, a flashback scene that was really worth watching. More of Amanda Woodward’s () motives for returning to the Place were revealed as well - it has something to do with some painting worth millions.

Much more interesting things happened in the episode…

Colin Egglesfield is spilling all the secrets now that he’s been ousted from - or, he just wants to make sure he gets plenty of exposure before he’s off the air. According to the actor who plays murder suspect Auggie Kirkpatrick, he and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz had to get practically naked to film one of their scenes together.

In the episode, the two are “both wearing half-loin clothes that they had to tape to us.” Tell me more! “There are very few clothes involved in the near future,” Egglesfield added.

Melrose Place Premieres with a Shriek: Review

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Editorial, Gossip, Video,

The CW’s premiere of , the new version, did everything it was supposed to do…even if it did rely upon a few shopworn plot ideas to do it. There was much less shock factor and much more slick appeal than what was to be expected. But at the end of the episode, enough loose ends were left hanging to keep audiences coming back for more.

To sum it up, ’s acting was bad, Sydney’s part was pretty small and the blonde girl? Completely unlikable so far - but definitely a diva worth hating.

Melrose Place to Resurrect - Then Kill - Sydney

Sydney Andrews - Melrose Place

Original viewers got quite a shock in 1997 when Sydney Andrews (Laura Leighton) was tragically killed on her wedding day. But viewers of the new series will see her brought back from the grave…only to return to that same grave shortly into the first episode.

Sydney will be found floating in the pool just after she’s brought back to life. It’s the sort of thing that could only happen at Melrose Place.

“It will feel nostalgic, but it’s not the old Melrose,” said Todd Slavkin, one of the show’s writers. “Sydney’s death in the first 10 minutes…means anything could happen.”

No Melrose Place for Heather Locklear

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip,

Heather LocklearIf CW was hoping to give a big name boost to its remake, the network will have to try a bit harder.

Although many were counting on an appearance from , the newbies will just have to do without Amanda Woodward. According to Entertainment Weekly, the FOX veteran decided against joining the series. An insider claims there simply “wasn’t a way to bring her back that made sense.” (I didn’t realize that was a requirement for CW’s reboots.)

As disappointing as this news might be, the network should not give up hope. Heather might not be interested in carrying the show once again, but there’s at least one other vet who’s willing to try: Lisa Rinna. The former Days of Our Lives star told E! Online back in January that she’s “available” to resurrect her old character (Taylor McBride) at any time. Yippee!

Those confirmed for the cast so far include Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Jessica Lucas (90210), Michael Rady (Swingtown), and Katie Cassidy (Supernatural).
