Description

Not everyone was able to walk away a winner at last night’s Golden Globes, but some stand out whether or not they received a statue. Some of the Hollywood elite looked like winners…while others, I wish I didn’t have to look at through the night at all.

All the results are in and the victories are tallied - but one. When it comes to last night’s Golden Globes, who wins the best dressed award?

Jennifer Aniston to Return to TV…As a Regular?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, NBC, Rumors,

Jennifer Aniston bares more than her bod in the new issue of GQ. The actress talks about her relationship with John Mayer, her current friendship with ex-hubby Brad Pitt and even her future career plans.

With her cover shot, Aniston easily puts to rest any lingering rumors that she might be carrying Mayer’s child - smooth abs are testament enough to her state. Aniston also denies the rumors in her interview, where she jokes about going to the Hamptons with Brad and Angie. Yes, it’s just a joke - her and the ex exchange polite phone calls and congratulations; they don’t share vacations.

But she did offer up a tantalizing hint that she may soon be back on the small screen - as a regular. Jennifer spoke highly of Tina Fey’s , saying “that to me, is an ideal job: great cast, New York City.” When asked directly about her future involvement with the show, Aniston played her cards close to vest. “We’ll see what I say if they come back and ask me - I wouldn’t say yes, I wouldn’t say no.”

So, it’s a definite maybe.

Idol Gives Back: Just as Good the Second Time Around?

Idol Gives Back Top 8 Group Number

Last year, ’s charity spectacular was still shiny and brand-new. Everything was a surprise, everything was unexpected. Two theaters were packed with partygoers, celebs, singers and cameras. The contestants were given a week without eliminations, and the viewers were given more A-list performers than they could quickly name. In a two and one half-hour broadcast that still ran long, Idol did it again this year. Was giving back as successful this second time around?

American Idol’s charity special still earned the highest ratings of Wednesday night, but the numbers were down from last year. In fact, the numbers were the lowest for Idol since a 2005 pre-taped broadcast. The stars were bigger, the performances more astounding and the promos even more exhausting. So, where did it all go wrong?

Idol Gives Back Tidbits

American IdolThough ’s charity extravaganza won’t air until Wednesday, much of the show has been pre-taped…and thus, it’s already happened. Want to know who showed up to sing what? Want to know more about the money the event wants to raise? Want to know what’s going to happen…before it does? Keep reading or turn back now - spoilers to follow.

Last year’s spectacular raised more than $75 million for various charitable organizations and even helped FOX score an honorary Emmy award. The official financial statement for the event will be released in May. This year’s goal is to raise at least $100 million in funds for charity. To kick off the night and begin the event, the Top 8 Idols performed Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music.”

Idol Gives Back Celebrity Guests Announced

Idol Gives Back will continue it’s self-serving humanitarian efforts with another star-studded event this year. I gotta tell you, I watched every minute of the charitable broadcast last year and the only thing I was impressed with was Jack Black. During the Thursday elimination show, Ryan Seacrest started to rattle off the big names which will be associated with the big event this year.

As the crowd screamed and Seacrest cheekily grinned, he spit out attention-grabbing names like Brad Pitt, , Reese Witherspoon, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry. He slipped Snoop Dogg in there, too, and that’s when I started screaming. Love the Dogg. Love him. Now, I have a reason to watch the event. Thanks, Snoop.

Believe me, the list of names will only get longer and longer as the Idol Gives Back date of April 9 draws near. They’ll over-promote it the point that we’ll all get sick, and then they’ll do the show and suck a good two hours of TV time out of it. It sounds tedious, I know…but don’t forget, Snoop will be there. He brings a certain cool cachet Idol couldn’t hope to achieve otherwise. Way to luck out, .

Mary-Louise Parker’s Adoption News

Mary-Louise Parker It’s a girl for Mary-Louise Parker, star of Showtime’s Weeds. The actress, who has a three-year-old son, Will, with her ex Billy Crudup, just adopted a baby from Africa. If you watched the Emmys or read any of the recap info, you know that Parker didn’t win either of the two Emmys she was nominated for this year—for her portrayal as Nancy Botwin on Weeds and for a TV movie role in The Robber Bride. Parker last took home the Emmy award in 2004 for her work on HBO’s Angels in America miniseries. She and Crudup split while Parker was still pregnant with her son, but she told People magazine after his birth, “There are a lot of things I just would not attempt, but taking care of someone—I know how to do. I know how to do that, and I enjoy doing that.” Parker can currently be seen in season three of Weeds as well as opposite Brad Pitt in The Assassination of Jesse James, opening this Friday.

The 2007 Academy Awards: Live Commentary

Academy Award Welcome to our live coverage of the 79th Annual Academy Awards!  During our live-blog of the 2006 Oscars, I made what may now be considered an eerie prediction about Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe:

“For some reason, I keep getting this nagging feeling that their relationship will dissolve sometime soon, but that discussion is for another post.”

I’d like to say that I’m psychic (if so, that Oscars pool at work is all mine)...but I’m going to have to chalk it up to nagging intuition.  What is that little voice inside me saying this year?  While some races may have been locked up months ago (I’m talking to you, Helen Mirren), there will be a shocker this year.  I can’t pinpoint the category, but I think it will be come riding in on a big yellow bus…

To find out who will be going hog-wild tonight during the Year of the Pig, stay tuned here for the live results!

Brangelina Have a Baby - BREAKING NEWS!  And My Feelings On Seacrest!

Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Cable, Editorial, Gossip, News,

Ryan Seacrest and his straight line smileBrangelina before ShilohFirst of all, congratulations to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.  She gave birth to a beautiful (and considering the genes, this is more than a figure of speech) bouncing baby girl - Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.  Shiloh, welcome to the beginning of a strange life.  And word of advice, when all of you get older, Maddox and Zahara will probably hate you because you’ll be the only “legit” kid and actually look like mommy and daddy, but don’t let them get to you.  Just get all M.C. Hammer on them and say that you’re 2 legit… a legit Jolie-Pitt and that they’re just adopted.  But, I’m being snarky now.

In any case, so where were you when you found out the news?  I’m sorry the BREAKING NEWS as E! likes to say.  I was watching the Chelsea Handler Show (funny and subtle compared to the in-your-face antics of most sketch comedy shows) at 12:30am on a Saturday night (I’m married now and don’t do that clubbing thing anymore), when all of a sudden the BREAKING NEWS flashed on the screen and, forgetting the channel I was watching, thought that something happened in Iraq or some natural disaster occurred or something that was legitimately BREAKING NEWS!

But what did I see as I brought my buttcheeks to the end of my chair?  Ryan Seacrest.  A natural reaction upon seeing Seacrest, my buttcheeks instantly drew itself back, far away from his visage.

In any case, surreality came back to me, and upon regaining my bearings, listened to Seacrest “report” the birth of Brangelina’s baby girl.  I wasn’t hanging upon every word he was saying, but I was interested being a celeb-o-phile, which you shouldn’t tell anyone as I would lose ALL street cred in this admission.  Anyway, something happened at the end of this BREAKING NEWS that just made me sigh and shake my head.

Seacrest signed off as “Seacrest.”

What is wrong with this man?!?!?  Okay, I can sort of understand the third person reference for American Idol because that whole “Seacrest out” thing was catchy and millions… and I mean millions of people dug it.  But, does Seacrest really have to refer to himself in the third person for a 20 second report about Brangelina having a baby?  Yo, Mr. Straight Line Smile (Don’t lips usually curve?  Seriously.  I guess it must be the Botox), it’s not always about you.  The report is about Brangelina and the birth of their child, the same way this post is about them and you.  Geez!  What a “dropping my name” whore.  Anyway, it’s late here on the East Coast…

Velasco out.
