Rob Lowe Extends Role on Brothers & Sisters

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Ratings

Rob Lowe Great news for my favorite new show of the season. Rob Lowe, who was to guest star on a few episodes of Brothers & Sisters, will continue his stay for the rest of the season. The reason? You might guess that it’s his magical ability to never age (I mean, seriously, this guy looks fantastic). Well, perhaps that fountain of youth is responsible for the show’s highest ratings of the season. Lowe plays U.S. senator Robert McCallister, who appeared on Kitty Walker’s (Calista Flockhart) political talk show. She decided not to ask hard-hitting questions about the senator’s recent divorce in hopes that he would keep her brother Justin (Dave Annable) from having to be redeployed in the Army. He later went on to offer her a job on his campaign. While Lowe is listed as a special guest star, it’s rumored that he will appear in most of the 12 remaining episodes.

Rob Lowe Joins Brothers & Sisters

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC

Rob Lowe As if ABC’s hit drama Brothers & Sisters couldn’t get any better—now Rob Lowe will be joining the cast. Okay, so it’s only for six episodes, but he will be a fantastic addition to the show. Having grown up on a steady diet of Rob Lowe, I’ve followed his career for awhile. And, is it just me, or does he never seem to age? It’s remarkable, really.

Anyway, back to Brothers & Sisters... Lowe has signed on to play a Republican U.S. senator who is going through a divorce while running for re-election in California. Of course, he and Kitty (Calista Flockhart) will meet up on her political TV show. Ba-da-bing, let the romantic sparks fly! Executive producer Jon Robin Baitz, wrote the role specifically for Lowe (and also wrote an episode of The West Wing). “He brings a maturity to the role on a show that’s about people who are no longer kids.” Baitz said.

Brothers & Sisters Signed on for Full Season

Sally FieldMore good news for another freshman series—Brothers & Sisters has been given a full season order. ABC made the announcement today, citing the pairing with Desperate Housewives as a reason to keep the show going. According to Stephen McPherson, president of ABC Entertainment, “Brothers & Sisters is a great addition to our Sunday night lineup and has given us a strong complement to Desperate Housewives.” I have to agree. With Housewives seeming to be on the upswing this season in terms of storylines and Brothers & Sisters providing an interesting character drama, Sunday is a great night for chick TV. If you haven’t seen this drama, it stars Calista Flockhart, Sally Field, Ron Rifkin, Rachel Griffiths and a large cast of characters. The story is about the Walker family, the differences among the siblings, and the company they must hold together following the death of the family patriarch. As the story unfolds, more is being discovered about the mess that their father left behind, adding to the drama among the family members. There is a lot to follow, but the storylines are interesting and for the most part, it’s very well done and believable. I’m just glad that another show I’ve devoted my time and attention to has been given a full season ride.
